NY3D Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 I have a question, I absolutly love flying these russian fighter planes. However I am not use to the "km" system. What are the correct landing approach speeds? In a dogfight I catch hell cause I really dont know how fast Im going,so I stick the pedal to the metal and hope for the best. :icon_frow any tip would be greatly appreciated.
D-Scythe Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 One nautical mile is roughly 1.8 km. I don't know the exact specifics on how to land a Flanker or MiG, but as long as my descent rate isn't too high, I usually approach around 200 knots (364 km) are glide my way from there.
Weta43 Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Recomended final approach speed in an SU27 is given as 240km/h on the HUD. I guess you realise this already, but when you switch to landing nav mode the reqiured altitude & speed are up at the top of the HUD. (Isn't there a switch on the cockpit settings screen to switch between imperial & metric systems ? Never tried it - always fly Russian planes & we use metric here anyway, but I think I remember seeing it somewhere.) Cheers.
