how do you assign radio comms?

I have a tanker orbiting off shore I want to refuel from but don't know how to establish communication freq's.

Thanks

When you have a flight selected in the mission editor, on the right hand side where you choose the aircraft type, task and enter its name, there's a field COMM. This is the frequency the flight will transmit on, and for things that the player can interact with (tankers and AWACS) the frequency it needs to be contacted on.

I think this field defaults to 124, i.e. 124 MHz AM. (The frequency ranges don't overlap so the AM/FM/UHF designator is somewhat redundant.)

The tanker will be added with a default refueling task (which is what makes it appear in the comms menu under Tankers) and with a default TACAN configuration. If you hit the "advanced" button at the bottom you can see these additional commands, and alter the TACAN settings if you want.

In game, you need to tune your radio to the appropriate frequency, then use the appropriate MIC switch to open the comms menu for that radio, and select the Tankers option using the appropriate function key. (Or you can enable 'easy communications' in the game options, and use \ to open the comms menu, and the game will automatically tune your radio for you.)

I've done all you suggested above NDP - I do not see a tanker freq in the AM Comms menu.

I've set mine to 150AM and its not on the AM comms menu.

It will only show in the comms menu if the tanker is currently active, i.e. flying around and executing the "Tanker" task (click the Advanced (Waypoint Actions) button to see the list), which is automatically added when you set the aircraft task to Refueling.
