wehyam Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 I got problems: BS has been running ok for a couple of weeks.. then I changed joystick and .. now everytime I start mission, training, instant action etc I get the pause/break window and there's no response.. its not the joystick.. I changed it back. I have to call up the Windows task manager to get out.. the Trackir works.. the keyboard responds but BS doesnt .. So I look to uninstall and start again.. Windows cant find Uninstall.exe and neither can I which ever route... there's no uninstall file and no entry for the progam if I go the control panel way.. How can I uninstall this? The computer doesnt know it's there.. And.. the putting the disc in and running setup.exe (who knows.. there was an uninstall button on the window) has no effect.. setup.exe just goes round and round..no response) I'm using windows 7 64 bit and the version is the boxed one so I guess its 32 bit? No troubles before.. though when I tried to update to 1.02 windows the exe told me it couldnt find the program!! I know where its coming from!! Any help most welcome...
Panzertard Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 (edited) If you can't find the uninstall or it's not working - delete the DCS Ka-50 dir - delete any files you have in C:\users\<you>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files xxx\Eagle Dynamics\DCS Note: AppData may be hidden, you may have to use WIndows Explorer, Organize and "Show all hidden files, folders and drives" - just install again, directly over the old location. - Patch directly up to 1.0.2c (skip 1.0.1) Then try again - and report back. Good luck :) If the problem remains with a unresponsive DCS: - Unplug all USB equipment, except Keyboard. Yes, it means removing joystick and Joystick software (such as Saitek SST), webcams, usb hubs - everything. - Deactivate Antivirus/antimalware for a short period. - Start DCS If success, bring back one thing at a time until it stops working again - then we will know what the problem is. wehyam Posted April 10, 2011 Author Posted April 10, 2011 Thanks for the response Panzertard.. I've just checked out an idea (before I read your email) and I noticed that the options controls is empty of every key command.. my stick/pedals have their assignments down their column but otherwise the whole column for the key is empty!.. I 'added' the pause key command and lo.. things began to whir again.. Shall I go ahead with the uninstall move?
Panzertard Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Okai, then you can force DCS:BS to recalculate the control-devices by deleting a few custom files. If you installed DCS at C:\Program Files(x86)\Eagle Dynamics - then you need to look into this place: "C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files(x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50" ".\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\Input\Aircrafts\ka-50\keyboard", Keyboard.lua is a bit newer than Default.lua then delete it. Leave Default.lua alone. ".\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\Input\Aircrafts\ka-50\joystick", look for files which are newer than Default.lua, and remove them. Leave Default.lua alone. This should reset you joystick and keyboard config. Then next time you start DCS, go straight to the Options, Controls and start re-configuring. If everything fails horribly, you can always try to reinstall. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
wehyam Posted April 10, 2011 Author Posted April 10, 2011 Well done Panzerward.. Thats got me back in the saddle.. Now all I need to do is learn how to fly it properly.. Thank you very much.. Now about the update.. Last time I tried to update 1.0.2 it told me it couldn't find the game so I just left it alone.... I'll see what happens later.. going to play a bit first.. Thanks again ..regards..
Panzertard Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 The uninstall / install info shouldn't be missing. Anyway, if you want to go to 1.0.2: - In that case, install 1.0 again - over the old directory. Before you do that, make sure your C:\ is healthy by running a 1. Start->Run: CMD 2. In the CMD type: CHKDSK C: /F If it asks to check the disks at the next reboot, just answer Y (if you have a english version). 3. Reboot to finish off the diskcheck. Now install over the previous directory, and after that, patch it up to 1.0.2 http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/patches/dcs_bs_patch_1.0.2_en/ The mind is like a parachute.
