Daddy-O Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 I'm a LOMAC newbie and I'm still familiarizing myself with the flight characteristics of the Flaming Cliffs Su-25T (fantastic sim, by the way!). I'm having problems with the autopilot. Let me apologize in advance if this has already been addressed before, or if it's simply a matter of RTFM, but when I engage various modes of the autopilot, and then disengage (i.e., all lamps on the ACS panel are off) often times my Su-25T behaves as though it's still recieving some kind of autopilot input. Sometimes the plane will insist on rolling to the right or left (there's no wind) regardless of how much I try to level out, and sometimes I lose pitch authority. Sometimes invoking the "Emergency leveling mode" will restore roll authority, sometimes not. My pilot is earning a bad rap. Can anybody help? britgliderpilot Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 What are the three trim lights doing? The AP uses trim to control the aircraft, doesn't reset it, and there isn't an option to reset the trim in the Su25T. What's probably happening is that coming out of autopilot, the aircraft is trimmed to continue rolling or pitching . . . . try applying trim in the opposite direction. Be aware that holding the trim keys down doesn't do anything - you need to hit them repeatedly. In order to try and avoid this in future, try to only disengage the autopilot when flying straight and level. If it turns out that this isn't the problem . . . . . then, and only then, report back and we'll tell you to reinstall :p http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Guest ruggbutt Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 If coming off of a banked autopilot or a mode where the trim isn't centered, go to A/P straight and level mode. Let the trim reset and center then turn A/P off.
Daddy-O Posted August 12, 2005 Author Posted August 12, 2005 You guys are right. The trick is to watch the trim indicator lamps on the main panel; if all three are not green, then you know you're out of (neutral) trim. My recommendation to Sukhoi: add an auto-neutral trim button. ;)
