TonyP Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I've been away a week on vacation when the "09" patch came-out. I've got "08" running on my computer and am trying to download the "09" patch. I've created a folder to save the download "09" patch files. However when attempting to save and download the first file, the "patch_setup_v1.1.0.9_en.exe" file, I receive an error notice, Set-Up needs the Disk. Please insert Disk 1 and click OK. Well, I don't have a Disk 1; I purchased an A10 Beta way back via a direct download, and have patched it up to a 1.1.0.8 version that resides on my hard-drive. What do I need to do to download/save and install the 1.1.0.9 Patch, that upgrades my "08" version that is active on my computer? What setup step am I missing? :book: Tony
GGTharos Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Did you download ALL the patch files? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
EtherealN Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Wait, can you clarify this - it asks for a disc when you download the file? That would be... weird... You sure you're not selecting to auto-run it? If you left-click some browsers will ask if you want to download or run the file, if you select run it will download and auto-run it immediately - before you had a chance to download the required .bin file, causing the installer to be confused since it cannot find the information it's supposed to install. ;) Install procedure for the patch is as follows: Download file: patch_setup_v1.1.0.9_en.exe Download file: patch_setup_v1.1.0.9_en-1.bin Ensure they are located in the same folder. Double-click the exe. Follow directions from there. EDIT: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/patches/dcs-wh_patch_1.1.0.9_en/? How I fixed this was putting the install files into a separate folder on my main HD. hassata Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 rename the files as patch_setup_v1.1.0.9_en-1.bin and patch_setup_v1.1.0.9_en-2.bin (I think for the second file-I'm not at my machine). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 rename the files as patch_setup_v1.1.0.9_en-1.bin and patch_setup_v1.1.0.9_en-2.bin (I think for the second file-I'm not at my machine). Why would you want to do that? The file names should be as I said in my post. TonyP Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 Problem solved, I've been away from my computer for over a week, it was the change in how downloads are viewed in my IE 9 browser versus my prior IE 8 browser. Was able afterwards to download and install the "09" patch.:) Tony
hassata Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Why would you want to do that? The file names should be as I said in my post. Win7/Vista sometimes renames the Bins (especially if you've had to re-download) resulting in the "Pease Insert Disk" error. Renaming as per the proper names on the download page solves this. At least that's what happened to me last time around. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 There is only one bin file in the patch. Following your directions would indicate renaming the exe to bin, and changing the bin file to a name it shouldn't have. Result: unusable patcher. ;)´ The renaming only happens if you already have a file of that same name in the folder. If you already have patch_setup_v1.1.0.9_en.exe and patch_setup_v1.1.0.9_en-1.bin in the folder, getting a downloaded file renamed due to filename conflict will not harm you, since the file is already there anyhow and running the patch will still work. Your situation would only apply to the 1.1.0.6 and 1.1.0.7 patches, since they have generic file names. hassata Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I meant as in http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1258366&postcount=25 Last time I had to re-download and had a "full_setup_v1.1.0.9_en-1(1).bin" or something along those lines resulting in the error. Renamed to full_setup_v1.1.0.9_en-1.bin and all was well. Sorry OP--should haver been clearer. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
