PhoenixDu Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Hi, I have FC 1.1 and in cockpit view I generally have good FPS, however if I turn my head to look towards my 3-5 o'clock, or my 9-7 o'clock the FPS normally halves and the sim becomes unplayable, especially in a turn fight. I did a test, flying the Su25T in the second standard mission. After waiting approx 30 seconds after mission start and looking left right a number of times. Whilst aircraft on the ground Looking forward 33fps Looking past my 3/9 o'clock 15/16 fps = Approx 50% fps drop Whilst aircraft in the air Looking forward 42fps Looking past my 3/9 o'clock 19/21 fps = approx 50% fps drop. Any ideas what might be causing this,or is there a fix available? Thanks
4c Hajduk Veljko Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Same here! Did you mess with cockpit angle in view.lua? Guest DeathAngelBR Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Maybe because you're looking at huge textures and more polygons? Correct me if I'm wrong.
britgliderpilot Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Hmmn . . . Can you tell us what graphics card you have, what your AA/AF settings are, and whether you have canopy reflections turned on? There is a known FPS clash between the pixel shaders and the scratches on the canopy - could possibly be causing your problem. I think there's a mod for fewer canopy scratches, otherwise turn off canopy reflections. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
PhoenixDu Posted August 19, 2005 Author Posted August 19, 2005 I have not changed the cockpit angle in view.lua. I have a P4 3.2 CPU and a 6600GT and run the sim at 1280*1024 with 2xAA and no AF. If the slowdown was due to the extra textures and polygons being drwan, wouldn't I get the same slowdown on external views when viewing the whole aircraft? I will retest with cockpit reflections turned off. Thanks
Guest IguanaKing Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 Is the slow-down always there? Usually, with all of the aircraft, the first time you look back at the wings, you'll get a momentary FPS drop as the weapons textures are loaded into memory. Once they are loaded, you should no longer notice such a dramatic drop in FPS.
