Is Black Shark less punishing on framrates then Warthog?

I'd love to download Black Shark but am hesitant to do so with my track record with Warthog. I have terrible frame rates and long load times with the hog. So much so that it is unplayable, a shame because I think it's a great program with a lot of promise.

I've got FSX loaded and it runs without any issues on fairly substantial settings (not maxed but high to very high). The approximate stats on my PC are:

Windows 7

intel i5 at 2.3

4 gig of RAM

And a 1.5 gig "integrated" video card.

My apologies if this is an approximation but I don't have my computer handy and I am not exactly computer literate.

I guess in short, if I were to get the shark would I be able to use it or run into issues like Warthog?

Thanks all

Blackshark is currently more cpu than gpu dependant, so chances are it would perform better on your machine than A10. The A10 updated engine requires more gpu power to run. That said, I'd encourage you to look into getting some form of dedicated graphics. Even a mid range GPU would make a world of difference for you.

Rememer that at some point ED will be updating blackshark to be at almost the same level as the A10, so you're going to need a dedicated card going forward.

Bottom line is, you need more horsepower than you can get with a mid-range laptop if you want to take full advantage of either game.

That's the ultimate question. Will it be useable and a decent runner as compared to Warthog? I understand I won't be able to take full advantage, buy is it useable?

I would not dare say anything without an exact identity on that integrated card.

Checked an addon I have for fsx (which runs well) that suggests using above what DCS is suggesting. I'll give shark a crack tomorrow when I can get back to my computer. I'll report back. Hopefully it's just warthog that is a system...hog. Thanks, I'll be here all day

That still leads a wide span. ;)

Is your CPU a Sandy Bridge? If so, there's only two to chose from - HD2000 and HD3000. Both aren't exactly superb gaming equipment though, but better than the old pre-Sandy stuff.

Ok, downloaded and works without issue. The graphics are set to low but its pretty smooth and still looks pretty good.

Now I need to figure out how to go back to the default settings for keyboard/mouse/joystick.....

BS is only less punishing till the patch comes out to use the same engine as A10.

ViDock I think makes something to upgrade laptop GPU abilities, but very expensive for what you get. Basically gets you a box that can hold up to a $225w GPU card for $275.
