berkoutskaia Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 I've been looking at some pictures of MAKC 2005 airshow, especially at those showing the Su-39. here and there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this Su-39 is carrying a Kh-31P on pylon 8 and a KAB-500Kr on pylon 3 :D. Is this a payload only for airshow purposes, or is the Su-39 able to use this weapons on those pylons??? In Mud I Trust.
britgliderpilot Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 First, it's worth pointing out that the Su39 isn't the Su25T - it's the Su25TM. There are some subtle payload differences. But yes, that is a Kh31 of some kind, and it does appear to be a KAB500kr. If this is the Su25TM, it's possible that it's a Kh31A - the radar-guided version. The pod looks a little different to the Phantasmagoria - could it be the underslung radar the Su25TM carries? I don't recall whether it was balancing or wiring that restricted KAB500 carriage - if it was balancing then this could be an airshow loadout, or if it's wiring then it being available on this pylon on the Su25TM is understandable. In any case, if these pics are of the same aircraft, it wouldn't be representative of a combat loadout - there's too many different kinds of weapon loaded. I think it is the Kopyo-25 radar. n any case, if these pics are of the same aircraft, it wouldn't be representative of a combat loadout - there's too many different kinds of weapon loaded. Display loadout combination only. I definitely agree on that. My real question is rather if the Su25TM/Su-39 is wired for these weapons :p In Mud I Trust.
