JACN Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I´d like to know if "Mini-HUD" is a realistic feature in the Su-25T. I think it does in the Mig-29 and Su-27, but which other planes should have "Mini-HUD" realism option enabled?. Also, I´like to know what does "RADIO ASSIST" exactly mean (in game terms). Is it realistic to keep it enabled in the realism panel?. Regards,
britgliderpilot Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Radio assist isn't realistic - it's like having an instructor in your ear telling you what to do all the time. Mini-HUD - none of the aircraft in Lomac have any kind of information displayed on a helmet panel. The MiG and Su27 have a targeting circle, but nothing more. Some people say the mini-HUD is a reasonable cheat for not having seat of the pants feel, not having any kind of peripheral vision, and not easily being able to snap your head round to check the HUD. Some people disagree - shrug. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
JACN Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 Thanks, britgliderpilot. One more question: Is it realistic that target points keep atached to moving vehicles in the Air-to-Ground mode?. I thought these points were loaded in the navigation computer the same way as NAV-waypoints. How can be they 'real-time' updated at the same time targets are moving?...AWACS data-link?. And WHY does they dissapear with the target when it´s destroyed? . Is it realistic?
britgliderpilot Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 It's kind-of-semi-not-realistic . . . . grin. The A10 can detect targets if they are being marked by laser, using the Pave Penny pod. That will give a diamond over the target, similar to the diamonds we have now. However - the other aircraft do not have a reported ability like this, it would be only within the field of view of the pod, and the insta-switch capability is a little odd. So by hardcore standards, it's realistic only for the A10, and only if there's an army of gnomes with laser pointers hiding in the grass all over the map . . . . . The best to do it is set the targets as a mission goal, but not as a target for your airgroup. That way at least you can get a mission success or fail (even an update as you're going along), but you don't get the diamond over your targets. Having said that - finding them visually is bloody hard work. Welcome to the world of CAS. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
