Cant run LOP

Alright, well this isnt for me, its for someone who commented on one of my videos. He has Lock On platinum but for whatever reason he cant get more then 7 FPS.

 

These are the specs he gave me

 

sixcore 3.2 gig AMD Phenom 1090T, 8 gb ram, 1gb xfx 5570 radeon

 

I asked if he updated his drivers, he said yes, I told him to turn off anything in the background that didnt need to be ran. The rig he has seems like it should be able to max the game out without any issues. See being I am running about half of what he has and I can play maxed out with 12-17 FPS in some cases.

 

Any ideas?

By "running half of what he has", can you define that? Especially regarding graphics card.

 

The 5570 is almost as low as you can go for cards that are marketed towards any sort of gaming, so one should never expect performance from it except in very old products.

 

I'd probably suggest that he make a post in the Lock On section of this forum for more effective guidance.

Alright because by his specs I figured he had state of the art stuff

5 gigs ram

728mb Nvidia 8800GTX

Dual Core AMD 2.6 ghz

Yeah, the 8800GTX is a better performance in brute power (more than twice the pixel fillrate, ~35% better texel fillrate, but the really big kicker is memory bandwidth: 8800 is almost 4 times faster there (wider bus). The only places I find them equal is raw FLOPS, and the only thing the 5570 is better at is FLOPS/watt.

 

So for that reason I suspect the graphics card is being the bottleneck. The 5570 is, unfortunately, one of those cards where the manufacturers market their Dx11 capabilities as meaning "good game graphics" but where reality just doesn't tango with it. :/
