Lane Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 (edited) The problem is Steam, they take their time for put the last version ? seriously, dont be worried by this, your steam version have a code, this code is accepted to be applied on direct download from ED. download the version, apply the code ( if needed, in my case it was not even needed as the register file are still intact ).... then use it as a dvd installed game or as you have buy the game in a box .. no worry to have. Steam is excellent, but you need to understand, DCS A10C is not the last Batman or the last Modern Warfare, they care less of games producers who dont sell 1 millions of copy in 2 days.... You have buy the game, and you can play it without steam, with the same code, dont wait after Steam, and just Download it, install it, and play it.. ( call it a game is a bad words, this is THE simulator ) Edited January 6, 2012 by Lane - I7 2600K @5.2ghz ( EK full Nickel waterblock ) - Gigabyte P67A-UD7 B3 - 8GB Predator 2133mhz - 2x HD7970 - EK Nickel EN H2o block - 2x Crucial realSSD C300 Raid0 - Black Widow Ultimate - X52 -TrackIR 5 - XIfi Titanium HD - Win 7 x64Pro
acare84 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 The problem is Steam, they take their time for put the last version ? No, devs send files to Steam and Steam is releasing it. That is all and simple, also no time is taken. I think ED is lazy about this. Also from Steam. Automatic game updates Hunting for patches and downloading from unorganized web sites is so twentieth-century. On Steam, your games stay up-to-date by themselves. No hassles. http://store.steampowered.com/about/ I think ED is knowing this too. Because they are selling their game on that platform but they are not making auto updates for their products. That is really annoying, if you don't use Steam's features then don't sell your product on there. Sell the product only on your page. :)
foxfour Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 i can download from ED but ill have to explain this to my dad. Too complicated for him. An auto steam update is how things should be.
Draux Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 My wife plays all the indie games on steam. Games that have a lot smaller of a fan base than A-10c and they seem to get updates on time. I'm not buying the whole "DCS isn't important to steam because it's not Call of Duty". Not saying ED is holding out, but the reason for the patch delays in steam isn't because DCS isn't important enough. Buying the game on steam only to find out its not being supported reflects negatively on the game, regardless of who's fault it is. I doubt steam or ED wish it this way. Hopefully it can be resolved sooner than later.
foxfour Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 agree with you Draux. I also doubt that steam is witholding an update based on revenue. Really all us steam users should email steams customer support and request the update. I have already done this.
cs_280zx Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 i have submitted a support ticket to steam last year in December regarding the delayed updates release. and have yet to receive a response to the 'delay' very poor from steam... TASFOverkill Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Signed up just to give a thumbs up here... Looking forward to the Steam updates. I had no problem applying the updates from the site, but my 2 brothers aren't so savvy. When I initially bought DCS on Steam, I was disappointed at the lack of servers. Turns out... it's just that the old version is being distributed through Steam. After the update, the Steam community doesn't work, the status that I'm in game doesn't work... Love Steam, love DCS.
