CarneyUK Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 (edited) Decided I would give it a go making a mission. First thing I found was a new respect for all the mission makers out there! It's not easy and takes a lot of hard work and figuring out. Massive thanks to MadTommy for the template! The mission is built up of 12 different tasks, each time the mission is flown 3 random tasks will be chosen. There are 4 En environment settings so you will always have differnet threats and there will somtimes be SEAD or AH help, but this will also be random! Idea is you can fly the mission many times and it will always be different! As I said MASSIVE thanks to MadTommy for the template! Mission is: Tusk flight x4 A10C defeneding Zugdidi heliport. Inputting co-ords into CDU is a must! Once airbourne you can listen to SEAD flights etc, to see how much help you are (or not LOL) getting. Hope you all enjoy and if anyone wishes to edit or change the mission I have no problems with that! :joystick: The mission was more of a practice for me to learn the ME, and thus won't be updated. I have a new mission in progress.Op_Damcon_1.1.1.0.miz Edited December 10, 2011 by CarneyUK Additional Text 1 "The sky is not the limit.....it's my playground!!" @paraglidecass
kylania Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Had a chance to try out this mission tonight and it looks pretty good. A few comments: 1. I really dislike missions that disable things like external views and the map (well, at least yourself on the map - trying to figure out which way to taxi is a pain if you can't see where you are). Hiding enemy units I can understand, but disabling missile view or friendly aircraft or yourself on the map is just aggravating. :) It should be up to the player to disable that kind of thing really. 2. I'd move the "loiter and wait" message to the Fence In waypoint. It was a long trip without knowing what to do from take off to waypoint 2 (RP). Putting it on the Fence In waypoint would make more sense since that's when you'd prepare for operations and than head to the AO. 3. The delay after getting to the RP and getting the first task seemed a bit long? Maybe it wasn't too bad, just seemed a bit long to me. 4. It's kinda hard to learn from missions when everything on the mission is hidden in the editor. I was trying to see how you did the awesome light trucks illuminating the runway thing (turns out it's just part of the airport) but having to go into every item on the list and unhiding it was a pain. Sure it makes the ME look cleaner, but it's more difficult to learn from. 5. Liked the coords entering thing, always a nice touch. 6. Would be neat to have SEAD flights take off in front of you while you start up. They seemed to take off around the same time as I did, but I only ever saw them on the TAD due to the restrictive mission settings. I've really only scratched the surface with this mission but it's quite impressive for a first one! I made a mistake of loitering around Angels 4 and when the first site popped up I got wasted since I happened to be pretty close and directly overhead. Still got my targets though! Looking forward to your next mission. Thanks! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
CarneyUK Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 Hi Kylania, Thanks for the comments. Always good for changing future missions to work better. 1. The reason I hide everything is that when I fly with friends we try to make it as real as possible, so the only view is from your cockpit. It is easy enough to change by going into the mission editor and changing mission options and re-saving. I always do this on missions I download so it increases realism when played with others online. 2. The loiter and wait message also triggers all the action. I could move it or create another message to appear at Fence In. 3. As the missions are random, they all have different times before they start, some 1st tasks are quicker than others. 4. Understand it makes it harder to learn when the En forces are hidden in ME, but kind of gives the game away when you can see where they all are. It was also designed as a mission, not a training flight. Once unhidden you can resave which won't take long. Less time than it took me to build it. It also made it easier building by hiding stuff once that part was finished, get's confusing otherwise :-) 5. Love the co-ord entering aswell. Only thing I found was that if you missed it you didn't get it repeated. Something I need to learn for my next mission. 6. All SEAD flights take of from same airfiled as TUSK except, IIRC, one AH flight. As the mission is random you don't always get the same SEAD, or threats or targets. Hopefully won't take long to get the next mission built. In the mean time you can re-fly 'Op Damcon' and it will have completey different targets, threats and flights. Enjoy and thanks for the comments! "The sky is not the limit.....it's my playground!!" @paraglidecass
