Warbird Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Hi, I've owned BS since a couple of months and I'm already familiar with most of the cockpit and can fly decently (love the sim btw), but there is one thing that's been bugging me for some time and I couldn't figure the answer no matter how much I searched this forum or google. When I fully power down the bird after flying and turning batteries off, I could still hear this hum in the cabin. I finally tracked it down. The hum comes when I turn on the SAI. It goes away after maybe 15 mins after everything is powered down. Now, the possible explanation I found is that the gyro is still unwinding and that causes the noise. Is this the actual cause of the humming and is it normal for it to persist after powering down? If not could it be a sound bug then? I have the steam version of BS. Thanks.
airdog Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Yup its the Gyro and it is like that in real aircraft too. Even new aircraft with glass cockpits still have standby gauges that still make the humming noise as the gyro spins down. Warbird Posted December 19, 2011 Author Posted December 19, 2011 Awesome, thanks. :) It was just bugging me that I didn't know what the hell is it and the manual didn't say anything. I can fly in peace now :)
