Speed Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) Though that said if Europe and the UK did that we'd be the only ones with the Jet Engine (BMW and a certain Mr Whittle) and Germany would have been the ones going supersonic first (given that Messerschmitt invented the all moving tail surface - a necessary control surface to enable control of supersonic aircraft at the time). Even more importantly Germany would have been the 1st nation to put a man on the moon given Werner Von Braun was the German that developed the US Moon Rockets :) There are plenty others I'd mention (anyone remember the Anglo-French Concorde being the 1st - read only- commercial supersonic airliner?) but its late here and I'm tired ;) OK. Doesn't matter. Then the US would be the only nation with nuclear weapons. Checkmate :P After the UK became the 51st state, I suppose the US would get jet engines too. :D Edited January 17, 2013 by Speed 1 Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. Weta43 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 OK. Doesn't matter. Then the US would be the only nation with nuclear weapons. Checkmate :P Unless it went to the countries who's governments officially commisioned and took part in the Manhattan project, which was from the outset a joint US, UK and Canadian project - not an 'American' one, or if it went to the countries where the principal contributing scientists came from, which would be the US, UK, Canada, Germany and Russia. Oppenheimer - 'the father of the attomic bomb' - picked up in '42 the position and work of Gregory Breit (a Russian) who had been involved in the project since 1939, when Breit resigned over security concerns (That he had - not that others had about him..). :) Cheers.
JaseGill Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 To add to Weta's point somewhat, maybe think about trying delivering said nukes to anywhere you want to send them without the Werner Von Braun rockets to sit them on top off. Oh and by the way it was Einstein (another German) who wrote to Roosevelt in 1939 and told him of the German efforts to enrich Uranium 235 for use in weapons. Until then the US and Oppenheimer hadn't really spent serious time and money on the theories. After that having them available and proving they work in Nevada is fine if all you want to go to war against is Nevada or somewhere else you can deliver them by road ;) In some ways were already the 51st State anyway politically. I've buried too many friends since my time flying in the RAF to not understand that following a certain Bush family into war makes the UK not all that independent anyway. I'm no fan of a fully combined Europe but I'm no more a fan of being told what to do and where when it suits someone else's interests more than mine either. Obama has said recently that the US needs the UK to still be part of Europe for influence and political reasons. I wonder if its in our interests, I also wonder why the most powerful nation on Earth (or is that China now, I'm losing track) needs this little speck of land floating off the French cost at all? Politics. Such a bad subject :) It creates men (and women) of great power who can bring whole nations together, but also has the ability to separate people, even people of the same nationality and basic moral code, who in most cases just want the best for them, their kids and their loved ones whilst just getting along with everyone else. The LT Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 It's a nice plane but I'd rather see a Yak-130. With a possibility to fly in the rear seat in multiplayer! :) My controls & seat Main controls: , BRD-N v4 Flightstick (Kreml C5 controller), TM Warthog Throttle (Kreml F3 controller), BRD-F2 Restyling Bf-109 Pedals w. damper, TrackIR5, Gametrix KW-908 (integrated into RAV4 seat) Stick grips: Thrustmaster Warthog Thrustmaster Cougar (x2) Thrustmaster F-16 FLCS BRD KG13 Standby controls: BRD-M2 Mi-8 Pedals (Ruddermaster controller) BRD-N v3 Flightstick w. exch. grip upgrade (Kreml C5 controller) Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle Pilot seat
The LT Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Wouldn't this plane be excellent for AFAC missions if it is TGP capable?
