kobac Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 (edited) I really like Russian spec. OPS skin, but nowhere I couldn't find that skin for the BS2. That's why I tried to adapt BS1 skin, so that it could be properly displayed in BS2. The only way was to, after conversion appropriate files, put them in some of the existing packs (e.g. Ka-50_NewYear.zip) and in the Liveries/new year folder, I put relevant description. In this way it is possible to display the new skin but, also replace some of the existing ones. Is it possible to install a new skin without replacing the existing, and how? Once again I emphasize that I am not the creator of this skin, but if original maker (I think that was his nickname Crazydick) or ED allow me I will be happy to set it in the download section. kobac Posted March 12, 2012 Author Posted March 12, 2012 Oh how I am forgetful, and I worked a skin for A-10c Varthog! I totally forgot that I need to edit Config file. Now everything is fine and I will prepare the skin for the uplaod, if you agree. Crazydick, who is the creator of the skin, allowed me use of its files and even offered other Photoshop files for his Black Shark skins, if anyone is interested to adapt for BS2. Booger Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Upload it & give credit to the original developer. It's not like you're taking credit for their work. You're simply making a BS1 skin usable in BS2. No biggie.
kobac Posted March 12, 2012 Author Posted March 12, 2012 (edited) First of all thanks for your help, a second I know that. I never thought that I take credit for his work, I mentioned it in the first post. *** The BS2 Russian spec. OPS skin is finished, uploaded (this morning) to the ED site and probably waiting for administrator approval. In the meantime you can download it from Lockonfiles site. Canadian desert skin is in preparation, because the Nevada terrain comes, right :-) Edited March 13, 2012 by kobac additional informations [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Everything is possible ...
kobac Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 (edited) I have a problem with bort number on the helicopter fuselage. Some numbers I have found in the zip files of some of the skins, but doesn't appear in the new desert skin which I adapt for BS2. Not succeeding, even though I changed a description this line: {"KA-50_BORT_NUMBERs", 0, "empty.tga", true}, instead of "empty.tga" I have tried to insert "KA-50_numbers_candesfor.tga"; or "ka-50_numbers8.tga"; or "ka-50_numbers18.tga" I have not found a way the numbers are show. This is a list of files in skin package: ka-50-lrm-candesfor.bmp.dds ka-50-lrm_b-candesfor.bmp.dds ka-50-lrm_centre-candesfor.bmp.dds ka-50-lrmpart-candesfor.bmp.dds ka-50-paint-01-candesfor.bmp.dds ka-50-paint-02-candesfor.bmp.dds ka-50-paint-03-candesfor.bmp.dds ka-50-paint-04-candesfor.bmp.dds ka-50-paint-05-candesfor.bmp.dds ka-50-paint-06-candesfor.bmp.dds ka-50_numbers_candesfor.tga.dds ka-50_st_paint-candesfor.bmp.dds and this is how look description: livery = { {"KA-50-lamp", 0, "ka-50-paint-02-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT1", 0, "ka-50-paint-01-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT1_M", 0, "ka-50-paint-01-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT2", 0, "ka-50-paint-02-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT3", 0, "ka-50-paint-03-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT4", 0, "ka-50-paint-04-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT5", 0, "ka-50-paint-05-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT6", 0, "ka-50-paint-06-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-Vtulka_met", 0, "ka-50-paint-02-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"SOPLA_KA-50-PAINT3", 0, "ka-50-paint-03-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-gear-rubber", 0, "ka-50-paint-05-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50_ST-rm_paint1", 0, "ka-50_st_paint-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50_Lifting_rotor_mast", 0, "ka-50-lrm-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50_LRM_Part", 0, "ka-50-lrmpart-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50_LRM-CENTRE", 0, "ka-50-lrm_centre-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-LRM_B", 0, "ka-50-lrm_b-candesfor.bmp", true}, {"KA-50_BORT_NUMBERs", 0, "ka-50_numbers_candesfor.tga", true}, {"KA-50_Turkey_Numbers", 0, "TactNumbers-USAF-black.tga", true}, } id = 5 name = "Canadian desert forces" countries = { "CAN", } Here's how it looks Edited March 14, 2012 by kobac ask for help [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Everything is possible ...

KAMOV Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Hi,Kobac, This is the original file for the Canadian skin livery = { {"KA-50-lamp", 0, "KA-50-PAINT-02-CAN1.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT1", 0, "KA-50-PAINT-01-CAN1.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT1_M", 0, "KA-50-PAINT-01-CAN1.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT2", 0, "KA-50-PAINT-02-CAN1.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT3", 0, "KA-50-PAINT2-DEF-03.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT4", 0, "KA-50-PAINT-04-CAN1.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT5", 0, "KA-50-PAINT1-DEF-05-SP2.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-PAINT6", 0, "KA-50-PAINT-06-CAN1.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-Vtulka_met", 0, "KA-50-PAINT-02-CAN1.bmp", true}, {"SOPLA_KA-50-PAINT3", 0, "KA-50-PAINT2-DEF-03.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-gear-rubber", 0, "KA-50-PAINT1-DEF-05-SP2.bmp", true}, {"KA-50_ST-rm_paint1", 0, "Ka-50_St_Paint2.bmp", true}, {"KA-50_Lifting_rotor_mast", 0, "KA-50-LRM-CAN1.bmp", true}, {"KA-50_LRM_Part", 0, "KA-50-LRMpart-CAN1.bmp", true}, {"KA-50_LRM-CENTRE", 0, "KA-50-LRM_centre-CAN1.bmp", true}, {"KA-50-LRM_B", 0, "KA-50-LRM_B-CAN1.bmp", true}, {"KA-50_BORT_NUMBERs", 0, "empty.tga", true}, {"KA-50_Turkey_Numbers", 0, "TactNumbers-USAF-black.tga", true}, } id = 5 name = "Canadian Forces" countries = { "CAN", } at the end of the file have see two lines {"KA-50_BORT_NUMBERs", 0, "empty.tga", true}, {"KA-50_Turkey_Numbers", 0, "TactNumbers-USAF-black.tga", true}, I think qu should place them in this way, to make this work La Plume est plus forte que l epee [sIGPIC][sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC] Amateurs de voilures tournantes,les inscriptions sont ouvertes BS 2/MI-8/MIG 21 DOC en Français =>Dispo ICI DCS WORLD Mes contributions => Cliquer LA
kobac Posted March 14, 2012 Author Posted March 14, 2012 (edited) I tried too, but it's not worth. Only numbers on the tail are shown, and that determine the last line: {"KA-50_Turkey_Numbers", 0, "TactNumbers-USAF-black.tga", true}, The line that defines display numbers on the side: {"KA-50_BORT_NUMBERs", 0, "empty.tga", true}, should be changed but I do not know how. As I wrote in my previous post (#6) I tried various combinations but it's not good. Even when I copied ka-50_numbers8.tga, or ka-50_numbers18.tga from original package skins to Canadian desert forces package. Edited March 15, 2012 by kobac [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Everything is possible ...
kobac Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 (edited) Can it be that nobody knows? I can upload the Canadian desert skin, but will not have numbers on side. Edited March 17, 2012 by kobac [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Everything is possible ...
kobac Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) I adapted this skins for DCS World, and uploaded as skin pack to the download section. Installation is easier than before. Just unzip and copy folders for skins that you want to install to the Liveries\ka-50 directory. Now you can see numbers on the side of the hood (if it says so in English). :) Regards Edited July 20, 2012 by kobac [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Everything is possible ...
Michelange Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Why did you add the ID=XX line in your description.lua files ? Do you replace an existing Skin ? It cloud be confusing. ID=XX is used for the old 3D models recovered from Lockon where the number of skins is limited. The new 3D models like KA-50, A-10C, Mi-24, Su-25(T)... are not not limited. It is not necessary to add this line. EVAC : French fighter school on LockOn: Flaming Cliffs Moding tutorials at C6
kobac Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 No, there doesn't replace an existing skin. If you look in the belgian camo skin description, you will see: id = 10 -- 70 argument of insignia and board numbers and I just wanted to see the numbers, which I achieved.
