Lozzo87 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) Hi guys, I'm quite new here and would appreciate some assistance. I have searched the forums and also looked through tutorial vids and guides, but I am still having issues with UHF radio. I tune the UHF radio in the Hideout MP mission to the freq of 251.000 like the briefing states. VHF comms work fine, however in UHF comms menu, all entries are blacked out. My friend who flies with me also has same issue. I have it set to MANUAL, MAIN and frequency 251.000 like it states in mission briefing. I dont turn it on until APU gen is functioning. VHF works just fine. I know how to bring up UHF menu. The weird thing is, occasionally I get chatter come through the radio from the flights I am supposed to be speaking to, but I cant talk back. Obviously I'm missing something right under my nose. Can anyone help? Edited April 15, 2012 by Lozzo87 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
nomdeplume Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 What are you expecting to do with the UHF radio? From the mission briefing, it would appear that whoever is hosting the mission will need to use the "F10 Other" options in the radio menu to interact with other flights. Note that these options essentially just set a flag that the scripts can use to determine which option you selected; they don't really use the radio per se. These options can be accessed from any of the comms menus. The other one you might want to interact with is the AWACS, but he's on 124 MHz AM.
RodBorza Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 (edited) Like nomdeplume said, the other flights must be contacted on 124.00 Mhz AM VHF. Also, you should use the "F10 Other" options. They won't talk back, because ther is only text for this mission, not the audio files. So, you will have to pay attention to the messages that pop-up during the mission. Anyway, if it helps, here's the link for me flying this mission. Maybe it sheds some light on what's happening. Watch it from 01:55 onwards. Regarding the UHF problem, the 251.00 MHz are to be used only with the wingman. If the menu is blacked out, it is usually caused by losing the wingman in the mission. But since you are flying multiplayer, I think that you could chek-out the technical issues forum, because, if I'm not mistaken, some people have some problems with comms when flying in a server. The menu is for items relating to the AI; the wingman/flight menus refer to additional AI-controlled aircraft that are part of your flight (i.e. aircraft group in the mission editor). So in a multiplayer mission, this menu wouldn't be available since you don't have any AI wingmen. [it is possible to have AI wingman in multiplayer missions, but very rarely done.] If you want to talk to your human wingmen, use Teamspeak or Ventrillo or Skype or something like that. Or the in-game text chat, if you're desperate.

Lozzo87 Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 I could have sworn the briefing for the mission states that all allied aircraft including the Turkish tornado flight will be on UHF 251.000. Odd. But thanks anyway guys I will try out your suggestions when I get home from work and report back. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Jona33 Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 German tornado flight. Blacked out means easy comms are on. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
