Mar Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 As the title says, how exactly does it work? At least in the F-15, I've noticed that I can't lock targets using BVR radar mode. Is BVR disabled completely in this mode? And how do you lock targets for a missile attack in visual range without using boresite, vertical scan, etc? Or is it just there to make finding targets easier and nothing more? From the shadows of war's past a demon of the air rises from the grave. "Onward to the land of kings—via the sky of aces!"
sungsam Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Still Game avionics mode works ? I Thought that bug has been fixed ! :smilewink: I'm joking, Please wait for anothers replay, if any ... DCS F16C 52+ w JHMCS ! DCS AH64D Longbow !
Mar Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 Thank you for your joke sungsam, that did make me laugh. However, I am still waiting for an answer to this. It is very frustrating to have a feature that is supposed to make the game easier for newer players and yet have absolutely no instruction as to how to use it. GGTharos Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I don't use game avionics mode so I can't really tell you what exactly is going on. I believe just hitting the lock key cycles through targets and locks them, but I could be wrong. The answer's probably somewhere in the key commands list :) In any case, I would also advise you to ditch game avionics mode if you're intending to try the non-game version later. It's just a crutch and leads to bad habits. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Mar Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 It's not as much for me as it is for a friend. I'm trying to find ways to make the game a little easier for him so we can play together. I want to use it as a Situational Awareness trainer so he'll have an idea where to point his plane's radar, but as it is now it's kind of useless since it takes away your BVR capability while the enemy keeps it. How was this mode intended to be used? Maybe I should ask Wags directly. From the shadows of war's past a demon of the air rises from the grave. "Onward to the land of kings—via the sky of aces!"
GGTharos Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I believe it was intended for very casual gaming - see target on radar, hit key to lock target, fire, hit key to select next target, fire, etc. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Mar Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 I can't get it to do that. The auto-lock buttons found under "Simplifications" highlight the target on the easy radar and put a big red box around the target visually, but if you fire a missile it won't track anything. I've always had to get in visual range and use dogfight radar modes to lock on and fire missiles or fire maddogs. From the shadows of war's past a demon of the air rises from the grave. GGTharos Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Ok, after the missile is highlighted, have you tried using the radar lock key? (Either tab or enter, I forget) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Mar Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 That works like auto-select next aircraft. From the shadows of war's past a demon of the air rises from the grave. "Onward to the land of kings—via the sky of aces!"
