I wanted to make a dedicated topic to make sure the issue is known (which I am pretty sure it is), and to beg for a quick fix, at least with the arrival of the Combined Arms beta.

It would seem that the compatibility of DCS: World and therefore all its modules with Windows XP 32 bits is broken since the last beta (dating circa May 7th, 2012). See these threads relating to the issue:

(might be) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=88188

I realize that most users are probably running Windows 7 by now, but I wanted to remind the team that we XP users are craving for a compatibility fix. Especially since people are beginning to transition to DCS: World or will do so in the near future, and since DCS: Combined Arms is about to come.

I hope for a fix, at least with DCS: CA which I would love to try

I waited a long time before going to the 64bit system. The main reason was that in the beginning allot of hardware didn't have drivers for the 64bit. As I see it the dcs series is going to be in favour of the 64bit system. Looks like the 32bit side of dcs is only just supported and it's not going to get more support over the 64bit side of the software.

Here is as I see it:

32bit: Officially it will be supported but not at the level as the 64bit side. It's going to be allot of fixes and many of them might be have to be made manually. Many of the things inside the software is just beyond the capability of the 32bit system.

64bit: Fully functional and fully supported and will be the future of this project. Just install and go fly.

So looking down the road, you will be better off with the 64bit. If 64bit is not an option, then you are going to have live with the compromise and there might be a showstopper lurking on that road.

This is my view on it, from what I've read on the boards and this is my personal view.

OS: Win10 home 64bit*MB: Asus Strix Z270F/

CPU: Intel I7 7700k /Ram:32gb_ddr4

GFX: Nvidia Asus 1080 8Gb

Mon: Asus vg2448qe 24"

Disk: SSD

Stick: TM Warthog #1400/Saitek pro pedals/TIR5/TM MFDs

Sure, but as it is at the moment, it is not working at all. Maybe I should have made that clear in the opening post.

DCS: World 1.1.2.1 does not work beyond the GUI in WinXP 32Bits. It crashes as soon as a mission or the multiplayer is launched.

I am not necessarily expecting a perfect working software, but if it is going to be officially supported, it should at least work, however 'shortcomingly'.

I do intend on switching to a Win7-based config, but that'll take some time (months, probably), and there might be others even more reluctant than I out there who would expect DCS to work as advertised.

Please note that this certainly isn't a rant against ED or anything, only a reminder that it would be nice to fix the issue, or else to ban the OS from the min required config.

It is indeed known. The problem here is the adress space limitations within 32-bit operating systems, especially XP 32-bit. (NOTE: this is different from actual memory on the system.)

See this post in one of the threads you linked: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1466288&postcount=5

32-bit is broken in this version of the beta IIRC - should be fixed in the next one. 1.1.2.0 worked ok however.

Hey, I'd like to know if the issue is fixed in DCS World 1.2.0 (else I should download 4.92 Gb for nothing) ?

EDIT: I just took a look at the release thread, and apparently, it should be fixed. I will try it

Fixed for me :)

I only had one crash during some 3 hours of flying.

Thats with the P-51D, Ka-50 and A-10C.

Only odd thing is that under Controller setup, "A-10 Real", Axis assignments, some P-51D specific axis' are listed.
