KaspeR32 Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 I would not be upset if all I had to do was get a good cooler and oc but it depends on how cool I can make it...next month I may be purchasing a new motherboard and CPU due to a too much money problem (thank you wedding season). Hey Antorian, Not sure if this will help you but before I upgraded my system, I had an intel Q6600 at 2.4GHz and an HD5770 video card. I had the same dilemma, whether to upgrade my video card and see if that improved my DCS performance or upgrade my whole system. I ended up buying an H70 cooler, and OCing my CPU to 3.2-3.3 GHz, and it DID help immensely. I would say before you even get the 670, try getting a decent cooler, and overclock your current CPU. If you're still not happy with the improvement, then go ahead and get the 670 since you can always use it in a future build anyway. I doubt that card is going to be pushed anytime soon. Antorian Posted August 10, 2012 Author Posted August 10, 2012 NM. It turns out my motherboard doesn't like overclocking. I had it at 3.49 Ghz and...not much of a difference. Windows 10 Intel Core i5 4670k CPU 3.4 GHz 16GB RAM MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog TrackIR 4
Antorian Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 (edited) Hey, just wanted to update. I'm guessing I'm going to save may money for the time being and save up for a whole new computer. However, for the mean time I've found a pretty good solution to low frame rates. Turning the cockpit off. Since I'm using a second screen for my MFD's and I'm not always in need of the cockpit instruments other than certain moments, I feel I can flick the cockpit on and off when needed. I've got some pretty impressive performance from doing this. Just wanted you all to know!
