SgtPappy Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 As I understand, most Su-27S aircraft already had the ECM panel installed. Apparently there's some automation to their Sorbtsiya pods as well, but probably not to the level of automation as built-in jammers. It's difficult to know if this would have completely screwed over an F-15's lock though similarly to how you stated that some planes could keep away from F-15 lock just before the arrival of the APG-63(V)3. I'd really like to see some examples of ECM exercises that may have been done in the past. Do articles of such things exist? I mean, we've got plenty of DACT and Red Flag exercises.. it'd be nice to see how effective jammers are in real world practise.
GGTharos Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 We'll never find out :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
SgtPappy Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 Sadly... but at least we know that jamming isn't an end all to BVR engagements... not in the Cold War and not now.
