Old Dude Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Hi folks, Im new here and have a question,im building a system for dsc mainly and some 3d work and im quite techi but i can't find clear advice on a monitor type for flight sims anywhere, 1. 24 or 27 inch(is 1080 blocky on 27") 2. does 60hz refresh work ok or do i need higher 3.do i need 5ms or lower response time 4. would ips be ok,bearing in mind the quoted response time is not true on most, and is 6ms upwards quoted any advice from some one with experience on one or more of these monitors types with a sim would help a lot,Budget about £200-£400. Thanks
EtherealN Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) For DCS, I'd say any and all of the above is fine. :P Blockiness (if any) with 1080p on a 27"er should be little problem as long as your GPU is able to run some AA. Knowing the other components help, and they are most definitely the more important ones. (Note that quite a few screens that talk about is a physical, on-screen, response time, and on monitors that include various decoder chips in the pipeline (for resizes and transformations on non-native res etcetera) can easily add ten times more than that in pure latency - which is a way bigger problem.)
