mr_mojo97 Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Hi all, I'm just finishing off my pit with the ILS/ TACAN panels and can't for the life of me figure this out. I'm using cheapo rotary encoders from eBay mated to BU0836X board and using Leo's encoder software and Helios. I'm using these encoders without problems on my UHF/ VHF panels. All are wired correctly and have been rechecked but when I turn one it also turns the other in sim, I've checked in Helios and in the sim options and both key bindings are the same. I also can't get the push button to work without conflict with the turns (it seems to be a momentary push button - can I use this for switching ILS and TACAN on and off? Any ideas? Hansolo Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Hi Mr_Mojo97, When you say that it also turns another in the sim, have you checked the settings for this other in Helios. I am pretty sure you can't use the same inputs for two functions in the sim but this does not apply for Helios I think. This means that in case BU0836X Input 1 is increase ILS volume and at the same time e.g. UHF volumen is also mapped to BU0836X input 1 then you would have a problem. I have only mapped the ILS frequencies and ILS volume in the sim. Nothing is done to Helios as the sim can take the encoders directly. You might get an issue if both mapped in Helios and in the sim. I have a use the encoder momentary push switch for on-off of ILS also straigh into the sim, but there needs to be added a little to the lua code get it to work. I would suggest that you try and delete the input in Helios. I can send you a copy of my settings tomorrow evening for, Leo Bodnar sw, game and Helios if you like as it looks like we have the same setup. cheers Hans 132nd Virtual Wing homepage & 132nd Virtual Wing YouTube channel My DCS-BIOS sketches & Cockpit Album
mr_mojo97 Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 You are right, I deleted my settings in Helios and hey presto it worked. now to get that switch working, so your settings for that will be very much appreciated. Is the encoder switch push once for on and push again for off? Hansolo Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Outstandingly good news. I wil send you the lua settings later today. Mine ecoder switch is not latching, i.e. push and hold give a digital input "1". As soon as the push button is released the digital input "1" is removed. I haven't found any encoders with latching switches so far. cheers 132nd Virtual Wing homepage & 132nd Virtual Wing YouTube channel My DCS-BIOS sketches & Cockpit Album
Hansolo Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Hi... My memory is not what is used to. I don't think I actually made any changes to the lua code. Anyway I have attached my settings. I have attached the power switch to another board that I am using but it is the same setup for BU0386X. The "ILS power" and "ILS frequencies" shows what my lua code looks like.
