Whiterabbit01 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 I originally purchased my first DCS title via Direct 2 Drive (Black Shark) a couple of years ago. Then, when it was released on Steam I purchased it again as I did with the Warthog. For some reason I prefer playing my games via the Steam client. I've been waiting for the second generation of Black Shark to appear on Steam over a year after it was released, but as yet no joy. I've contacted Steam but they are of no help. Can any developer on the DCS team or the people responsible for sales tell me if DCS Black Shark or the DCS Mustang will show up on Steam in the near future. I couldn't wait for Black Shark 2 to appear on Steam so purchased it via Direct 2 Drive last January just before D2D became Gamefox but I don't want to purchase the latest title until I know for sure whether or not its going to be on Steam. Please can someone clarify this, thank you.
Bluedrake42 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 idk ED seems to have been not releasing/updating on steam as awesome. I have a feeling this has to do with the inclusion of their new "DCS WORLD" thing. but idk http://www.youtube.com/bluedrake42 Subscribe to me
SimFreak Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I have a feeling the answer is a big No. Unless ED integrates World into STEAM.....which I don't see happening.
ishtmail Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 A10C on Steam is the older version. You should definitely install DCS World and DCS A10C module - both are currently at version 1.2.2 while Steam A10C is 1.1.1.1. To activate A10C within DCS World, you need the Serial number you received when you bought it in Steam (you can find that serial if you click on your game in your Library and find 'CD Key'). And if you own Black Shark, you should think of the upgrade to BS2, which is also DCS World native. So, with all the above, you should buy P51D on http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com and use it within DCS World, which is constantly getting updates. This way, you have ALL your DCS modules under ONE platform, DCS World. All modules fly the same terrain, so you don't waste your precious disk space on multiple installations. DCS A10C Warthog, DCS Black Shark 2, DCS P51D Mustang, DCS UH-1H Huey, DCS Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight, Flaming Cliffs 3, Combined Arms System: Intel i7 4770k @4,2GHz; MSI Z87-G65; 16GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM; 128GB SSD SATA3 (system disk); 2TB HDD SATA3 (games disk); Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X; Windows 7 64bit Flight controls: Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog; Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder; TrackIR 5; Thrustmaster F16 MFDs; 2x 8'' LCD screens (VGA) for MFD display; 27'' LG LCD full HD main display
