Squid Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Due to limited free time, i am being in and out LockOn therefore missing info about the developments regarding my favorite sim. I recall there was a time there were rumours about a Hornet addition. I havent stumble on any other western systems developments info in LockOn since then. Are there any plans info leaked or annouced regarding developments beyond the 1.2 Black Shark? Personaly i have been seeing some areas of the western side of LockOn since the first release that had a good candidate improvement potential. For example the 3D model of F-15 (the F-4E and F-5A, and F-14 maybe) , fuel tanks of mirage 2000-5, addition of NATO airbases (maybe in Turkey?) etc . i7 880 | HD 7870 | 8 Gb DDR3 1600 | ECS P55H-A | OCZ Vertex 2 180 | Intel 330 180 | WD 500 AAKS | 2x WD 2T Green | Enermax Liberty 620 | CH Combatstick & Throttle | TrackIR 3 | HP ZR24W | Windows 7 x64
britgliderpilot Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Someone needs to bloody sticky this! The tentative plan, not fixed, just what ED hope to do at the moment . . . . Tank Killers. Probably a comprehensive Lomac addon. Basically upgrading the experience for blowing up tanks, AFM for the Warthog, possibly an AH-64, better ground physics, trees having damage models, general enhancements for low altitude flight. "The F16 sim". If someone says "Destroyer" one more time . . . . . Further in the future (we're talking many years now), the plan is for an F16 and an advanced MiG29, probably as an entirely new project, both with AFM and very complex avionics. Whether it'll include dynamic campaign, whether it'll be set in the middle east, nobody knows. Partly because ED haven't said either of those things (!!), and partly because everything is still very much up in the air. The good(ish) news is that ED HAVE said they want to include a dynamic campaign in a future project. Might not be this one, this one may not see the light of day. About the "Destroyer" name. It isn't the name of the project. It is Babelfish incorrectly translating the Russian interview in which the plan was explained . . . . An ED representative said in a Russian interview that they wanted to do an F16 fighter sim . . . . and it just so happens that the Russian word used for a jet fighter can also translate as destroyer. You have been warned ;) We won't see the Hornet flyable. The manuals are classified (to the level where someone showing them to a Russian WILL be sent to jail, for a long time) by the USN, and ED aren't prepared to guess at information when they have the same information for, say, the MiG29 and F16. Guesswork doesn't cut it, and in realism terms is just . . . . . well, it's just not cricket ;) ED are generally gunning for more accuracy in their sims from now on - that wasn't exactly the case when Lomac was released. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
