So I think I can understand most codewords that AWACS use in FC3/DCSW. But there is one callout I do not quite understand.

When AWACS tells me that target is either cold or hot, does that mean that they are aggressive, or maybe that they are ingressing or egressing?

Hot means their nose is pointed in your general direction. Flanking means they're flying more or less parallel to your route (not necessarily in the same direction), ie. their flank is pointed at you. Cold means their tail is pointed at you.

When I say 'pointed at you', it's a fairly large 90 deg sector.

I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
