Garic Storm Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 (edited) Greetings! :helpsmilie: When attempting to install Black Shark 2 Upgrade 1.2.3 (English download version), I get an error stating 'DCS Black Shark 1 must be installed and activated.'. I have the full retail version of DCS: Black Shark 1.0 (Yellow-Orange Box with no bar code) and have been playing regularly. NOTE: I also have issues installing the 1.0.2 Patch to Black Shark 1. I can download and extract the Patch without issue, but when I go to launch it, is crashes Windows Explorer. Occasionally, just opening the Folder that the Patch is extracted to crashes Windows Explorer. At first I suspected a PC issue, but this is the only file that behaves this way. I have re-downloaded the file using both IE and Firefox with the same results. I disabled MicroSoft Security Essentials for good measure; still a no-go. I was hoping to purchase the upgrade during the sale this week for $9.99, but have not made the purchase just in case I have to get the Full Install of BS2. Any advice before the sale ends would be greatly appreciated! (I did issue a Support Ticket, but have not gotten a response as of yet.) Thank You, Garic Storm Edited March 23, 2013 by Garic Storm
Garic Storm Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 (edited) Resolved! Ok, I managed to correct this on my own with the help of other Forum Posts, another user's Admin Ticket, and Trial and Error. The full process is as follows: [This section is modified from a previous post from Memphisbelle referring to an Admin response on his Ticket. I have added corrected steps I had to do to get it working.] *If you have MoicroSoft Security Essentials, it is a good idea to disable it until this process is complete.* 1. Please Uninstall Black Shark 1 and DCS World. 2. Delete this Windows registry branch: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eagle Dynamics\Black Shark -How to do it: --- Run Windows Start menu and type there "regedit" (without quotes); --- Follow this path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eagle Dynamics --- RightClick on the "Black Shark" folder -> Delete) 3. Install Black Shark 1 again (Then please run Black Shark 1 and activate it with Black Shark 1 serial number. It will eat one of activations but don't worry, actually the activations are of little importance. We do replace serial numbers for the legal owners. When the limit of activations of your serial number will be reached, please consider contacting us for getting a new serial number. We will consider your request and give it to you.) 4. When it is installed, run Black Shark 1 and turn in to any mission. There will be activation window. Enter serial number of Black Shark 1 and activate it. Wait until cockpit is displayed. 5. Exit from Black Shark 1. 6. Install DCS_World_en_1.2.3.10201_147.exe. 7. Install KA-50bs1_en_1.2.3.10201_147.exe. Please do these steps exactly as written. This should help to solve the problem. I followed the steps from the Admin initially that did not include uninstalling/re-installing DCS World and my DCS World Install Folder disappeared, but was still on the Installed Programs list (It was previously installed to [Program Files], but disappeared. I even checked [Program Files (x86)] for good measure. It was simply 'gone' and the shortcuts could not find the executable.). I hope this helps any of you that run into this issue.
