Guest Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Getting back into A-10C after a long time away. I was just flying a quick mission I put together and noticed what I think is incorrect HUD behavior. Towards my first steepoint I was heading at about 330 degrees, and my second steerpoint was at about 60 degrees. When I switched from the first to the second steerpoint, the offscreen SPI indicator momentarily appears on the right side of the HUD (as is correct). A split second later it moves to the left side, and the degree indicator then says that my steerpoint is 270 degrees away. In short, the HUD seems to want me to turn 270 degrees left to my steerpoint, even though the steerpoint it is only 90 degrees off to my right. If I then turn to the right towards the steerpoint, the SPI stays on the left UNTIL I cross the 360/0 degree boundary, at which point it moves to the right of the HUD and displays the correct degrees. I reproduced this multiple times, so it isn't one-off behavior. This seems like a bug to me, since I would think the SPI should always point in the direction of the shortest turn and that the degrees should never exceed 180. That said, if I am misunderstanding how this should work I am happy to be educated!
ralfidude Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I can confirm this. No idea how to replicate it, but it happens on and off, can get quite annoying when I'm trying to navigate off the HUD. My wingman start yelling at me that I'm zig zagging everywhere. Quite humiliating. Gotta really have the TAD up to double check and/or HSI at this point. Xavven Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I also confirm this, and I see it happen most often in grid 38T (mostly when I'm playing Instant Action - Easy Georgia Spring, or Operation Save Badger). Is there something wonky with this area of the map?
