VIRTUAL CARRIER AIR WING 17
Virtual Carrier Air Wing 17 operates the F-14B Tomcat flying with VF-103 the "Jolly Rogers" and the F/A-18C Hornet in VFA-34 the "Blue Blasters". We simulate the composition of the real CVW-17 in the early 2000's. Our carrier and flagship is CVN-73, the George Washington.
We fly missions and trainings every Tuesday and Thursday at 20:30 CET.
Carrier Air Wing 17 strives to achieve the feeling of a real CVW in the early 2000s, whilst keeping a light and fun attitude. We strive for realistic operations that include: Cyclic Ops, Close air Support and Strike Packages. We are currently deployed to the Mediterranean. 2022 Cruise Video.
Our mission profile is diverse and covers the entire multirole spectrum. Missions usually last 2+ hours and may include a variety of tasks, such as: SEAD, DEAD, CAP, CAS, Strike, Anti-ship etc. We are currently at the end of our 2023 deployment, and will be starting our workups at the beginning of 2024. >Requirements to join:
- Be 18 Years or older (waivers can be requested)
- Own a Functioning HOTAS
- Own some kind of Face/head Tracker or VR
- Own The DCS Supercarrier, Syria and Persian Gulf modules/maps
- Own either the F/A-18C Hornet, or F-14B Tomcat
- Operate the Jet and all its systems
- Be able to fly formation
- Be able to fly a proper CASE I recovery
- Be able to fly tactical formation
