I don't think I'll have the patience to wait a few months but I'm actually waiting to see what happens with my work at the moment as I could be based somewhere else and then I might have no choice but to wait a while. Either way I want to have my PC specs ready so that once all is clear I can just order it straight away! -

620W would be enough, yes? Haven't decided exactly on the PSU but if you say that one is good then sure, why not. -

Yup, I'm pretty much set on what I want: i7 6700K 4.0GHz GTX 970 RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3000MHz Samsung EVO 850 250GB Gigabytes GA-Z170X-UD3 I'll just order the whole thing ready-built from a website here in the UK. They only offer an i5 6600K or an i7 6700K, so I'll go for the i7 6700K. Should be plenty, right? -

Sorry, this motherboard jargon is rather confusing for me. If I go for one of the "good gamer" motherboards that you referred to, will one of them be fine on its own? -

Thank you very much for the explanation! Also, might be a stupid question, but I see it's possible to add a separate sound card. Am I right in saying this is unnecessary? -

Ok, got you, thanks. Regarding the motherboards now... I've been using this website to see what I can build and there's a massive range of motherboards. What's the best option there? https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk-tech-labs-skylake-z170-midi-tower-gaming-pc-configurator-fs-007-tl.html#t=d1 -

Thanks for the info! I was looking at the GTX 970 and I see there are options from Zotac, MSI, Asus. Some are "TURBO OC", some are not. They are all in the same price range. Asus GTX 970 DirectCU II OC Strix is the most expensive one but not by a huge amount. Which one should I go for? -
Red Flag 16-2 Campaign in the A-10C Warthog
sukhoi350 replied to Bunyap's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Watching all videos with great interest! Can I ask what rig you have? I see the fps tends to drop a little on the busy ramp/ Vegas background? Keep it up please. It would be amazing if something like this campaign will be available for the Mirage. -

Yeah I was looking at his build also. I'd say that's near enough what I want but I am a bit confused about the tower case itself now. It seems as if his one doesn't actually have any side fans. And in fact this is one of those things that confuses me as there seems to be a large choice of cases but I am never really sure which one or how many fans it should have. I'll do some research and see what the deal is. -

Thanks a lot for the reply. What about the Motherboard? I literally have no idea what any of them are and which are better or worse? I see there's options from MSI, Gigabyte and ASUS. And regarding the power supply... what's the sort of minimum wattage I need? My current PC has an 800W PSU even though it's no where near as capable as what I want to build. Thanks again! -
Hello guys, What's a decent PC that one could build for DCS 2.0 Navada and future maps/ add ons in order to run everything smoothly with very little compromise when it comes to graphics settings? I really want a silky-smooth experience. I am not interested in multiple monitors set up. A single 30" screen or something similar I am totally happy with. I would also want to run trackir (not sure how much fps loss that causes). Also I should mention I am not a tech guy like some and I really don't want to think or mess around with overclocking anything. So I would just like to build something and leave it. Possibly upgrading GPU and RAM in future. Any advice for what a good place would be to build a custom PC online in the UK? I understand the principals after having gone through many threads on this forum. I would obviously like to spend the least amount of money that I can but I understand that it wont be cheap. If I could get something for £1000 or less would be ideal. The only components I am already pretty set on is 16GB of fast RAM and an SSD to run everything from. Regarding graphics I see the GTX980/Ti seems to be the 1st choice but they are mega expensive so would a 970 be sufficient to begin with? And processor wise I understand it has to be either an i5 or an i7. Once again bear in mind I don't want to overclock anything, so having said that what would be the cheapest best choice to achieve my goal? What kind of PSU would I require? Thanks!

hi guys, got 2 questions: 1) whats the best interval to set between each sequence (i only use 1 flare in a sequence) when operating in a combat zone? (not necessaraly when u are already being shot at) 2) is it possible to set up the UV-26 to dispence 1 flare on 1 side and then after a certain interval, a flare from the other side... and keep this going without switching left to right manually? i dont want to run out of flares on 1 side and have 64 left on the other side!

Deployment Campaign mission 2 "Escort": Help!
sukhoi350 replied to hobbes57's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
same here actually... i passed the mission on the 2nd occasion and the stinger never fired into me. my tactic was just fire a bunch of rockets into the trees while slowly edging forward, then turn around and start flying at about 60km/h carfully finding all the all th rebels with Shkval and firing the cannon. i find the cannon a million times more effective in these situations. dont forget to take the guys out on the roof of the building. i actually never knew there's a stinger in that mission! i only saw a guy on the roof top with an RPG. the 1st time i got shot down coz i just overflew the rebels at low speed and altitude (i'm guessin gun fire shot me down?) -
sorry i know this is slightly unrelated, but aren't trees in DCS "see through"? i mean u cant use them for cover coz the enemy can see u right through the trees??? i got shot down a couple of times by stingers and stuff which were hiden behind trees... u just see a missile fying right out of the leaves! it's actually quite ennoying as i got shot down a few times like that and i think its really unfare! any way round this problem?

awesome vids!!! can i ask... i am using the X-52 aswell and i am using the hat switch on the throttle quadrant for moving the Shkval pipper (the little circle on the HUD i mean)... except mine doesnt move as fast as in your vid! is there any way to change that? or switch to the hat switch on the joystick? another small thing... how the heck do u give comands to wingmen so quickly? do u pause the game to give them a comand? it takes forever for me to reach accross to the keyboard and then press F something or other! once again though, great work!!!

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
sukhoi350 replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Su-27SM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think 2 or 3 squadrons are in service with the RusAF. It's got a new cockpit layout but i'm guessing coz its still an old flanker, there should be enough information/data about it to create an ccurate simulation? -
Ground Attack - ways/rules of engagement?

thanks fellas!!! -
Hi guys, i would like to try some good missions or campaigns in BS. i just need them to be realistic... i mean not like hollywood action where everything is blowing up and where u have santa clause skin'd Ka-50s and stuff. i'm just looking for something which would be similar to what a real Ka-50 pilot could be faced with. could you suggest what would satisfy this criteria thats out there? also, hows the default DCS campaign? i havent flown it yet... so i'm just wondering before i give it a go. cheers

sukhoi350 replied to sukhoi350's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
sorry to interrupt the whole tank battle going on here, but could you guys tell me if it's possible to lock the gun sight either for the cannon or for unguided rockets in the centre of the HUD... so basically you shoot to where you point, instead of the Shkval locking onto a certain bit of land? -

Ground Attack - ways/rules of engagement?
sukhoi350 replied to sukhoi350's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
thanks guys! much appreciated! can i ask, how do u "save" the 1s that are the biggest threat?? I am guessing u mean on the ABRIS... but i'm not sure how to save them. i'll have a look at the manual just in case. Thanks. -
hi guys, i just started learning about ground attack in BS. i created a small training mission for myself with a couple of stationary tanks only to find out THEY SHOOT AT YOU!!! Geeez that was something new to me thats for sure!!! i had no idea tanks can shoot at choppers! is that really so? can u use flares as a means of defence? anyways, actually what i want to talk about is the ways you would actually engage enemy targets? a) do u set autohover somewhere from a far distance and then lock up target by target and take them down? if so, the only thing i find a little "iffy" about this tactic is that u would usually need to point the nose of the chopper down to align the shoot cue with the locked up target... so in effect u will be fighting the autopilot while doing this and also beginning to move forward. b) fly at speed to the target, take a shot and vear off before u overfly it? or is there any other options? whats the sort of "best" way of attacking targets... specifically with Vikhr? Thanks
