Good. Looks like this update has some issues with the map Syria.
-
I do have the same issue Ok, I figured it out. First try repairing DCS via following command: (Open CMD, go to /bin directory) F:\DCS World\bin>dcs_updater.exe repair If it doesn't work try reinstalling the module: F:\DCS World\bin>dcs_updater.exe install SYRIA_terrain Don't be afraid, it doesn't download the whole package. It just searches for already installed files and somehow fixes itself. Try and let me know if it works for you as well.

search returns nothing, it is not within the firewall rules. It is somewhere else. -
Update Error: "Couldn't resolve host name"
341-Ces replied to 341-Ces's topic in Installation Problems
OHH MY GOD! First of all, thank you for the guidance above. I am getting close to the end. 1) I checked if there are still dropped packages? YES THERE ARE! 2) I enabled audit for windows filtering platform (after some struggling I managed it - link here for future references) 3) I found out that: a. The Windows Filtering Platform has blocked a packet. b. The Windows Filtering Platform has blocked a connection. c. The Windows Filtering Platform has blocked a packet. d. The Windows Filtering Platform has blocked a connection. e. ...and so on... 4) Checked the filterID. It was: 69575 5) I was like `I HATE YOU ID:69575, I`M GONNA GET YOU IN A MINUTE ID:69575 !!!!` 6) I searched for that ID in the log file (wfpstate.xml) 7) Whaaaaat!?!?! Item name is Avast! WFP Filter: FWPM_LAYER_ALE_AUTH_RECV_ACCEPT_V4 8 ) My fingertips were pounding my keyboard searching if I really have Avast installed? 9) (My LCD was shaking) open search bar, entered AVAST - got nothing?! But how? 10) open add/remove programs menu, searched for AVAST - got nothing? 11) A software was blocking my DCS Openbeta which I LITERALLY didn't installed. 12) Is it possible? Ok I remember installing AVAST once, but I DID uninstall it, because of reasons.... 13) But after some time that software returned for revenge! 14) Now my mission is to remove, to delete, to disintegrate each and every little part of AVAST out of my computer. I hope my next post in this topic would include a screenshot of me flying gently over Syria with my up to date flying simulator. -

Ok, I tried all of the methods in sequence (yes I know just one is enough - just to make sure) Still update is not possible with the same error. I might try reinstalling all network adapter drivers ... I dont know. I am out of energy. By the way.. anyone here knows Anatoly Zhavoronkov from Eagle Dynamics Support Team? He is not responding the ticket I created since 12th August. I am worrying about his health and I hope he is doing okay. -

LOL, if you were stucked with the same problem I would have felt sorry. Unfortunately, reseting the firewall settings didn't change anything. Now the situation is the same as previous one: -

Update Error: "Couldn't resolve host name"
341-Ces replied to 341-Ces's topic in Installation Problems
Yes. This is exactly what happened. One of my friends suggested me to log Windows Firewall blocking activity. (Link: https://windowsreport.com/is-windows-firewall-blocking-port-program/) I enabled the log, run the updater. This is what I get. But I don't have any idea what is going on here. The dropped packages are probably related to DCS Updater. (but I am not sure) Update starts at 17:40:02 local time and failure came at 17:40:38 -

News. Suddenly I rushed to my Laptop and tried to install beta version. (It is connected to the same network) When I double click the installation file Windows defender claimed that it was unable to connect smart screen. I clicked continue anyways and download started succesfully. So I can tell the problem is 100% related to my desktop. My plan is to complete installation and manually transfer all files to my desktop. Then see if it works. I'll let you guys informed about the process. -

I have some news :) From the web site below I tried to perform a fresh install of beta version https://updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ That directed me to this website: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/beta/ I downloaded the installer but as it was just about to start the installation same error came: "Couldn't resolve host name" I'm confused, bacause release version was downloaded succesfully. Any suggestion? -

Yeah, actually I removed the wifi adapter (plug in usb device) and got connected through ethernet cable. Disabled all remaining Internet connection options. But nothing changed. Apart from that, I installed release version. It installed just fine. Tried to update one of the modules. All went okay, and can play latest release version. Next step will be reinstalling beta version. If I only had time to do that. -

I don`t have third party firewall or antivirus software installed. I only have what windows already has - and they are turned off. I tried activating windows firewall, added dcs.exe and dcs_updater.exe to the safe list. After that I tried updating again with and without firewall running. Still no joy. My system is 2 years old. DCS has been running since then. All started suddenly with update 2.5.6.52196 Open Beta (15.07.2020). Even ED couldn`t find a solution yet. Strange... -

Actually, I did exactly the same thing. Just to give it another try, I swithced off all network activities I can (gamepass, nvidia updater, etc.) Open Wireshark and wait for 30 seconds, Start update (via dcs_updater.exe update) Updater error pop up at around 74-76 seconds. Stop the record. The new zip file is attached. Thank you wireshark2.zip -

Update Error: "Couldn't resolve host name"
341-Ces replied to 341-Ces's topic in Installation Problems
Thank you for your response. My DNS has been on auto since maybe 2 years, yet when I encountered this error first thing I checked was ED FAQ page. They recommended to set it to Google DNS. Now I periodically set it auto and switch back to Google just to check if it changes something. I also know flushdns command, I tried that one also I don't know how many times. I finally wrote a support ticket and wait for some hero to rescue me. Otherwise a new installation, maybe a brand new windows 10 is the only option. Of course, there is always a possibility to fail again when trying to install modules, terrains, etc. -
