  1. Just upgraded my hotas to the Thrustmaster T16000m stick and throttle. I found several profiles in the User Files for this hotas system, but I have several problems trying to use them: first, how do I bind the throttle “analog slew” 4 way hat, since DCS doesn’t even see this hat control at all? next, one profile has the throttle “rudder paddles” being used for zoom in/out. DCS recognizes the paddles as a rudder control, but i can’t get the program to see it as the zoom. any help?
  2. Ha! Doing a new download did it! I can actually fire some weapons. So far I have tested the Mavericks, Brimstone, Spear, and Mar1…all working perfectly. Later I’ll try the unguided bombs and some of the other GPS/INS type weapons. Actually had some good luck firing the ECM decoy (can’t remember the designation right now) at some SA-11, then timing a Brimstone attack while they are busy with the decoys… lots of fun! Thanks for all your help. Well, I discovered something interesting with the Gripen weapon release problem: I was trying different loadouts against different ground targets, going back and forth between the cockpit and the editor. All was going well, until one time I got into the cockpit, made a run against the ground targets, and suddenly the trigger button/weapon release button would not work….again. Nothing I did would get it to work. I quit out of the DCS program in disgust, and spent an hour watching videos. I got back into DCS intending to fly my old standard A-10A, but then I thought I’d give the Gripen another chance, and lo and behold, the trigger worked fine! I spent the next half hour or so going back and forth between the cockpit and the editor testing different weapons, when suddenly the weapon release wouldn’t work again. Now we’re onto something… I found that jumping back and forth (cockpit to editor) “too much” will cause the weapon release to not work. But if I quit the DCS program and come right back into it, everything is fine. Just putting this out there, in case anyone else runs into this problem.

  4. Yes, I when I’ve been trying to find the “correct” weapons release button, I have been holding each one for about 10 seconds…but no response. I have the same single set of bindings that you show. When I test them in the Controls page, they show up fine. They just don’t work in the cockpit. I’m thinking that maybe something went wrong with the Gripen file download, so That specific function is not working…it’s a long shot, but I am going to delete the current file, download a new file, and see if that works.
  5. Nope, no joy. Followed your instructions to the letter (nice instructional video, by the way). Nothing I do will fire these weapons. Very frustrating! Back to my A-10A for now.
  6. Rudel, Thanks! I’ll give this a try once I’m on my gome computer!
  7. I’m fascinated by the JAS 39C Gripen community mod, and I’m looking for help in using it correctly. Here’s what I’ve done so far: I’ve downloaded the 1.8.5 mod, unzipped it, and dropped it into my "\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS\” folder. I’ve removed all the other mod aircraft (F4, A4, etc) from that folder. I see the Gripen icon in the bottom of the intro screen of DCS, along with my other standard modules. I can create a custom test mission with the Gripen, and put some weapons on the rails. Jumping into the cockpit, I can pause it and get into the Controls setup, and bind my HOTAS for X,Y,and Z axis without a problem. I can also bind other keys to other functions. Unpause, and I can fly the plane around, and I can figure out the basic instruments/HUD from the SU-25T instruments (I’m primarily interested in the A2G version, so that’s what I’m using). I’m blundering my way thru figuring out how to use the clickable MFDs (this is my first clickable aircraft), experimenting with the sensors for the various TV/IR/antiradiation functions. However, I’m really only scratching the surface, and not really able to do much more than fly around. I would like some more detailed instruction for this version. I’ve watched the Grim Reapers video on the weapons, but that was based on an earlier version and is not accurate anymore. I’ve downloaded the training missions created by Rudel for version 1.8, but again, the update from 1.8 to 1.8.5 makes these missions unusable in various ways. Is there anything else I can use for reference for step-by-step procedures for instruments/sensors/weapons? My biggest frustration right now is getting any weapons to fire. Yes, I’ve set the MASS to “live”, yes, I’ve clicked open the trigger safety, yes, I’m in AG mode, yes, I get the launch authorization display. I realise that the Gripen doesn’t have a specific “release weapons” command, so I thought that releasing weapons would be done by the “release weapon” key for the SU-25T…nope. Maybe the gun trigger…nope. Maybe any of the other buttons…nope. Mavericks: nope, gravity bombs: nope, IR weapons: nope, anything else: nope. Any help here?
  8. Wife resting again now... Here is the simple test mission I created for the JTAC sound, along with the sound file itself. One of the things that was frustrating originally was that the sound file did not come with the CTLD package. So, even though the logic was built into the program, the program didn't have the sound file it needed; I'm pretty sure the "beacon.ogg" was only used for the helicopter transport function, which I never used. About SRS'es DCS-SimpleTextToSpeech to have the JTACs actually send a verbal message: yup, that would be interesting, since the CTLD code has a bunch of individual messages built into it...but I didn't want to have to fiddle with SRS (which I don't use). Edit: for some reason, this system keeps putting the "radiobeep.ogg" file into the section for videos, so that's where it is. Let me know if this works for you. radiobeep.ogg JTAC test.miz
  9. Just a quick reply while my wife is resting…. I tried to insert my own voice file, saying “lasing new target”, but that didn’t work for me. Then again, the standard file didn’t work either that first day I was trying those things, so it might work now. I’ll have to go back and see where in the CTLD file that needs to be changed. So many things to try, so little time…
  10. Yup, “Sound to Country” is how I did the “pre-load” of the sound file, just as you describe, with a trigger. I’ll upload my miz file for you, but it might be a day or so. Tomorrow my wife comes home from the hospital after having some major surgery.
  11. Got the radio cue working! It needs the sound file to be pre-loaded, as I described before, but it gives you a “blip” alert tone any time you get new info from the JTAC. Don’t know why it wasn’t working yesterday, but when I fired up DCS today, it worked fine. Its been over 20 years since I did programming, but I knew I had seen the output command in the CTLD code.
  12. Quick question about using CTLD for the JTAC lasing function: I’ve created a test mission with my A-10A and a ground JTAC unit, and some enemy tanks. Got everything working correctly; JTAC shows their location in the “info window”, marks them with smoke as I asked, but…I get no audio cue that they’re being lased. I read thru the programming code, and I can see that I’m supposed to get an audible tone when JTAC lases a new target, but I get silence. I’ve double checked the radio freq & band is correct (although I’m guessing that I wouldn’t get the info window if those were off). I didn’t see the audio file specified in the code (an .ogg file whose name I forget right now), so I created my own sound file, and “preloaded “ it into the mission using a Trigger in the ME, before running the “JTAC enabler” script. Still no audio cue when he lases a target. what am I missing?
  13. I'm developing a complex mission that I want to upload to the User Files when I'm done. I'm in the process of beta testing, and everything is going well, except...the addon scripts that I like won't load/apply consistently. I'm using MIST and "Splash Damage", loading them in the first two triggers, with a delay of 5 seconds for "Splash Damage" to load, so that I'm sure that MIST has completely loaded. This mission will be for the A-10A, which doesn't seem to have many missions compared to other aircraft. I'm not on the ground, so I don't see the explosions, etc...but the change in sounds with this script is terrific. Maverick launches, ground explosions, the engine noise, and OMG that GAU cannon! It totally increases the immersion! Since I'm still developing the mission, I'm flying it over and over again, making tweaks to things as I'm going along. I know flying the mission again doesn't automatically reload the scripts correctly automatically, so instead of using the "Do Script File" action, I'm using this "Do Script" programming: dofile([[C:\to\my\script.lua]]) Once I get everything ready to be uploaded, I'll replace those triggers with "Do Script File" actions. The "Do Script" techniques seems to work, but only about once every 5 mission starts. This is very frustrating. I've also tried to do the technique of: delete the Do Script File actions, save, add the Do Script File actions, save again. This is also very inconsistent. Is there any OTHER way I can get these files to load/apply on a consistent basis? Thanks for any help. rictshaw
  14. The_Tau, Thanks for the reply. I tried to use SRS in Dcs again tonight, but I think its still not working correctly, I still don’t get any reply from my “comms check”. I’m going to keep fiddling with it for now, but it seems like there are so many factors that might be interfering with each other (dcs key binds, srs key binds, window keystrokes, mouse movement, etc.), at some point I’ll probably just not bother with it.
  15. Anyone flying the A-10a and using SRS? I downloaded the SRS software, got it installed and configured (by referring to several Youtube videos), but I can't figure out if it's working correctly. Maybe it's my lack of knowledge about "radios" generally, but whenever I'm on a multiplayer server, I'll send out a "comms check", asking if anyone can hear me. I NEVER get a response. It would be nice if I could test the radio without being on a multiplayer server; I'm concerned that if I keep doing "comms checks", I'm just cluttering up the airwaves. If you use SRS, do you use the "overlay" that shows up in the cockpit? I've tried to use that as well, but the controls for hiding/displaying it conflict with the DCS keys for various functions, so I've stopped using the overlay. Could this be part of the problem? Confused!!
  16. Thank you! I knew I needed to do something different, but I wasn't sure what. I thought that since this is described as a campaign, I should not use the regular Mission Editor. But I edited the file to provide me with more difficult mixtures of ground targets now.
  17. New DCS guy, flying an SU-25T. I've downloaded several user-designed missions, along with the "Through the Inferno" (TTI) campaign. I really like the TTI scenario, and the possibility to call for JTAC assistance and Air Cover; in the SU-25T you really don't want to get into a dogfight with almost anything. Anyway, according to the TTI documentation I can configure mission spawning and other factors...but I haven't been able to figure this out at all. According to the docs, to change the mission settings, you go into the mission editor and pick the icon for "trigger list", then goto "ACTIONS > DO SCRIPT". As far as I can tell, there is no mission editor that has a "trigger list" option. I do see a "mission planner", but that has very limited number of icons...none have a "trigger list". If I do the standard "flow" of starting the action, I get a "Choice of Role" screen (where I can choose a mission for the SU-25T), and that immediately offers me a "fly now" button. What am I doing wrong?
  18. Is there something special you need to do to run Liberation? I downloaded this, tried to run it, but all I get is a quickly disappearing black window...then nothing. I’m guessing that the black window contains an error message, but it flashes on and disappears too quickly for me to see. rictshaw
