  1. technically, any "version control" tool should work, but, they tend not to be user friendly to anyone other than devs (managing/merging multiple branches can be a pain) having said that, I use a my own custom "slightly modified" variation of OvGME (the code is open source), for multiple repository linking/consolidation purposes but the basic "standard" version is more than adequate for most users and does the job. just be sure that when downloading any mods from the web sites that you check the properties of files to make sure it is not tagged as "blocked" by windows. locked/blocked files can really mess up things when trying to "revert" your mods. OpenModMan looks nice but seems to be a beta version? I haven't tried it (yet) though.
  2. apologies. cannot help. as a rule, i try to avoid clicking on knobs that might get things erect. especially if said knob is anywhere near my six 'o clock... let's just say, hard pass on that.
  3. i think the main issue is that the AI pilot does not start the engines when set to "take off from ground". not sure why this would be a problem, since its essentially the same logic as starting from ramp (or starting parking hot). its probably just one more state in a case statement that needs to be added to the code. i don't mind the fact the AI cannot "taxi" to anywhere meaningful. just point it in the right direction and let it rip (it does that anyway already... just without engines on).
  4. Is this feature not being considered at least? modifying the me-route.lua file will allow the option in the mission editor but not all aircraft appear to have AI model able (at least from what i can tell), to start engines in some of the aircraft. although, if you point them in the right direction, they will silently go sailing off into the yonder (UFO technology). does anyone know a hack to get "engines on" and if this bug "feature" will be looked at in the future?
  5. A follow up to this is that it occurs when any AI craft is placed at this location (N 13* 26' 24" E 144* 38' 51") and starting way-point type is set to "take of from the ground". no other way-points are added. wait about 5 seconds after mission start. AI starts rolling off. if this is some kind of prank Easter egg, how can i disable it? Edit: Ok, seems this is a general problem and not specific to this map. Looks like any place where a way-point aircraft is set to "take off from ground", it decides to get a little funky. I will check if there is an existing ticket for this elsewhere but if not, I still consider this a bug as i think having the option to start a mission at random places should be a valid option without having your AI kill itself. Edit: turns out one of my mods is using an outdated version of me_route.lua >>> pays to read the changelogs sometimes
  6. On apron of Apra Harbor airfield... track attached. tempMission3.miz.trk AI aircraft placed at this location seem to go rolling off on their own with no warning/commands/notice/power, etc... and with no ... intelligence. The track's pilot view points at one of such case. This happens with other aircraft types too, so its not specific. I just used the TF-51D here because its a "built-in" aircraft of DCS. This wouldn't be a problem (if you don't mind poltergeist behavior) but it does get tiresome when you run out of wing-men (so to speak) even before takeoff.
  7. And there I was... just nonchalantly flying my TF-51D (as you do), island hopping from Guam to Saipan, I decided to take a nice LL flight over the rocks east coast of Saipan.. when... fork me! I could've sworn I saw an island girl tanning on the rocks of Puntan Gloria waving up at me. I immediately had thoughts of circling back to take another look... I mean , after all, I was doing a recon flight , yeah? But just at that moment a shrill voice in my head told me to check the fuel gauges. Just as well, I just managed to make it back to International dead stick... I still wonder to this day (24 hours later), whether it was real or just a figment of my wishful thinking
  8. like arma 3 terrain editor / builder?
