Loose who? The server is pretty quiet these days. Yes not everyone has it but that's not a good reason not to use it. He who dares wins etc...
I also used the word "some" Persian Gulf because I thought that would make it obvious I mean within the rotation of missions.
You've clearly missed Ninelines other comments. he's addressed this issue by going out of his way to get a 4K monitor to help test the issues and compile a report.
Thanks sir.
I think we've guessed it was a move to an intended more realistic spotting mechanic but it would be nice to hear from ED what their intentions, changes were?
Sorry sir you are not following my train of thought here. If you can see something zoomed in you should be able to see it zoomed out IMO. Zooming in should at most increase detail (focus)
Yeah was streaming today and... what a mess lol I couldn't spot a thing.. then when I did get in a merge I found it incredibly hard to maintain visual, which was never an issue for me before.
I do understand i'm being a little B-word about this but I love DCS and will be passionate about it cause I care.
It shouldn't be a trade off and it wasn't prior to the changes.
Personally I think the change was too drastic and will hit VR users who enjoy non BVR combat in particular.
However people I’ve spoken to who use a 4K monitor are still able to maintain spotting at decent ranges. Although as I’ve not tested myself I’ll conceed.
Both being equal... this is still a poor decision in my opinion.
Should you be able to see at 30-40nm? Probably not... 15-20nm perhaps. We aren’t playing real life as I’ve said before. (Zoom isn’t real life)
BFM will suffer dramatically and especially for VR users, who undoubtably have a lot to contend with already. And I say that coming from track ir
Yup Sorry lads there is in fact another Thread about this which nineline has commented in here:
https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=219065
I'm not 100% on what exactly the intentions of ED were as we didn't get any notification so it may or may not be an error. Time will tell i guess.
I don't know exactly what ED have done or why... Trying to fly in multiplayer tonight was so stressful. I couldn't see jets or missile trails 90% of the time.
The prospect of sneaking up on people is officially gone!
I get there is an argument for realism, however it's a sim/game and my eyes don't zoom to see things further away like they do in DCS. There has to be a level of compromise.
Ah here's the thread I was looking for..
Yes, this sucks
I can't see a frikking thing in VR over 4.5nm and even then it's incredibly difficult to spot now.
The sim seems to have gone from comparable spotting in VR to desktop to now a MASSIVE disadvantage for VR users.
ED didn't tell us about these changes either so we spend hours on end trying to work out whats happening on our end.

Current Beta Build 2.5.3.21235
Visible range of aerial targets seems to have dropped from: 30miles Down To 5miles
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Have tried a fresh install, GPU Driver rollback, running around in circles :pilotfly:
