  1. Same issue, however I cannot even contact the tanker even when I get there, therefore no refuelling and no RTB. This was the only time I made it to this part of the mission by flying way over the MANPADS. Some weird AI bug happened to Smoke though and he didn't provide high cover just followed me all along, and then at some point he just ejected, and the plane kept bouncing around in the AO. Messed up AI

I don't remember this mission, but it might be the case. You can change coords format in HSI->A/C-> something in the lower right corner?.

However for close targets, it is good to verify the coords with your tpod, and refine the target. It is a wrong choice to do it via PP in this mission.

I would recommend entering coords into a mark point, designating it for the tpod, finding the bunker visually, designating it, and using the bomb in TOO with the tpod. This really should work for you!

Yes this worked! So the coordinates were given in minutes decimal. This format worked accurately when entering a markpoint. For PP I guess I would need seconds and more precise coordinates. Designated the markpoint as you mentioned and then I didn't need to slew the pod, it was right on target.

Now just struggling with the SAM evasion part haha. I saw some tips on the forum that I'll try

  3. I flew low, got launched at twice so far, and it got me twice. First time I didn't know what to expect so I didn't have proper countermeasures or evasion. Second time I did everything I could but the SAM still got me. I pulled a max G turn (whatever the plane allowed me to without disengaging overG, I think it was a 6G turn at mach 1.0), throttled back, countermeasures launched in S/A. None of this challenged the SAM.

Next time I'll try to overfly at 1500'

    Edit:

I flew at 2500' and got shut down again. Any tips?

Thanks for the guidance, that sounds like how it's supposed to be done 🙂

  5. So seems like it's a problem with how I enter the co-ordinates. I missed again, same spot. This time I ordered Smoke to drop the bomb as well. He nailed it. Probably the coordinates are given in minutes decimals, and I have to convert them to seconds? That's what I'll have to try next

Set EFUZE to INST (or in case of bunkers, try delay).

BTW you need this for most weapons, first thing when you fence in, set mechanical and/or efuzes as needed.

If you're not quite hitting, make sure you're using precise coords (with decimal points) in the right format.

Height of drop should not matter as long as you're in range. A range cone will show on your HSI, and IN ZONE on the HUD should be flashing. If you're not IN ZONE, instead you will see a TMR counting down to when you're in range.

Thanks! I’ve been doing those steps, but I’ll try setting EFuz to delayed. It says it’s a building stronghold, maybe I’ll need that penetration first.

  7. Hi,

I'm fairly new to the Hornet and having some difficulties with the JDAM drop.

I enter the coordinates through the JDAM display. I've dropped the bomb two times now to hit nothing. When I fly by where it dropped, there seems to be a building pretty close to it, could be considered a 'stronghold'. However, if that is the true target, the bomb dropped twice next to the building, with no damage.

So I wonder what I'm doing wrong, or why is there no seconds in the coordinates that I am given? Maybe there is more to this that I don't know other than entering the coordinates on the jdam display and flying from the heading they asked me for?

    Any help is appreciated

Edit: looking at my Tacview, the bombs do hit the target. So maybe I'm missing some kind of fuse settings on the JDAM? I thought I had it on Instantenous

oooor I need to drop it from a lot higher ( I probably dropped it under 10K ft)?

  8. I’ve also done the mission with Stored Heading alignment s suggested and it worked, mostly.
On Case III recovery, Smoke stays with me all the way to the deck. It’s like he never contacts Marshal.

my last call was to RTB instead of refuel. On the way back there is another radio comm by him, and then he just stayed with me. I didn’t check if there was another F10 option to send him away

one more thing: once I chose to RTB, I still got a on screen message about refueling, on how to approach the tanker or something along those lines. Disregarded it since I def picked RTB and comms matched my selection. On screen text didnt

For me it happens when I manage to reach WP1 before Smoke takes-off. As it looks like the follow order is given at WP1, if smoke is still on deck, the command will not register.

So if it it looks like you will reach WP1 before Smoke launches, take the scenic route to WP1 🙂

I’m having the same issue. I do have VoiceAttack running but I also cannot run without it in VR. I’ll try to take the scenic route to WP1 next

  10. Hi,

While so far the campaign is a blast, just thought I'd report a minor bug on the way.

No problems until flight lead contacts mother. Then they tell me to switch to Tower. I switch to Channel 9 on the primary radio. I try to use the built-in DCS comms to communicate with Mother. However, I get no response and therefore no landing grade in the end either. Mission can be completed no problem regardless.

Maybe the Supercarrier Tower freq has changed?

  11. I haven’t experimented that much, as I soon settled with DLSS. To counteract the unclear cockpit texts, i upscale the foveated region.
Visuals are very nice and FPS is generally good (expect for the F14 at Nellis ☹️).

    hardware in description

  12. Adding to this discussion. I do have a motion platform, and I notice that the ride feels better in the civil sim. There is turbulence at different altitudes, regardless of plane size: I feel it in small turboprops as well as large airliners. In real life, you can certainly feel the turbulence in big airliners, and it does not have to be a huge storm. This makes me think that fighter jets should also be experiencing a rough ride. Unfortunately I don't feel it in DCS at the moment. And while you might think it's because my motion platform isn't tuned properly - I feel the bumps while taxiing especially in the Mustang, so heave telemetry is set properly. I wonder if turbulence could be strengthened to feel some bumps in the air as well?

  13. Hi,

Thank you for this great headset and for being receptive to customer feedback!

id love to see some improvements on the software side:

    1) not having to recalibrate the eye tracking at every start up would be a big quality of life improvement

    2) as previously mentioned, being able to manipulate the desktop while having the headset on would be a much appreciated feature

    thanks!

  14. I was able to run it finally. It does take care of some chromatic aberration, but it kinda also introduces new ones for me. Importantly, it does not take care of the distortion outside the sweet spot on my Crystal, which is what I was hoping for. It does make the sweet spot a bit sharper though. Those are my observations. For now with the extended trial period, I’ll keep it on

Edit: actually have removed it, since it is not compatible with the resolution I like to run my Crystal at (200% render res in the foveated region).

Have the same problem but on Aero Varjo.

Though I was thinking it is DCS single thread bin problem as multithread bin works with quad view. I will have to uninstall Leapmotion and check if single thread still have issues with quad view.

Do you know if your single thread DCS is running OpenXR for sure?

  16. Hi,

I was surprised to see that I was killed by an AIM 9 head-on shot by an F5E. According to the mission briefing they are only supposed to carry rear-aspect IR missiles. Not sure if that is a bug or a DCSism (F5s simulating MiG-21s and maybe could not assign rear-aspect IR missiles to them?) Just wondered.

Got my ass kicked hard in this one. Ate all SAMs and then this.. 🙂 definitely need to refly!

  17. I was able to avoid them before by dodging 90 degree nose down as soon as they are launched and that way they are driven into the ground. Not sure if that's realistic though.. I'll check those videos out as I'm having difficulties trying to avoid them realistically too.
