  1. I rolled DCS back to 2.9.5 and 99% of the stutters disappeared. Seems it's likely just the recent issue of 2.9.6+ which a lot of people seem to be having issues with. Thank you for the troubleshooting!
  2. Here's the .log file. I did 1 round of 1v1 guns only F-15C on Caucasus and it felt a little better just from memory, still stuttering though. It really only becomes an issue when the opponent aircraft is in close proximity and in view. like within a 0.8 of a mile. dcs.log
  3. So I lowered all the settings and it doesn't solve the problem. I've been looking at task manager, HW monitor, AMD software to look at temps and usage and nothing is reaching 100% most of the time except the GPU, which should be there. RAM most of the time sits at 80%ish using about 13.3GB, CPU occasionally goes to 100% in certain situations but not frequently and not during the stutters. lowering settings did give me a nice FPS boost from about 70-80 to around 120 though so that's nice. Honestly have little to no knowledge of what each of those settings do but most of them probably just add a little more graphically, like dynamic lighting in the cockpit or post processing etc. I didn't however increase the size of the pagefile because i've just always been low on space since I busted my HDD a long time ago. Only have a 250GB and 500GB SSDs now and a few games and the OS take up very large quantities of it. I know when your PC runs out of RAM it'll use the storage devices but it's significantly slower, and i'm not sure using that would be good for a faster paced game like DCS. Not saying there isn't a benefit, I'm just unsure if that'll even really solve the issue. I'll try and divy up some space and allot 32GB as you stated and see if that changes anything.
  4. Been away from DCS for awhile but recently reinstalled it and in all in offline games I get major FPS drops when i'm flying near an enemy aircraft. I'll go from about 80 FPS consistently down to 25 or lower every second or so. Makes it very difficult to play the game. I've looked around a bit and seen others seem to be having FPS issues a bit in the most recent update. It's possible this is related, but my game will stutter even if there's just 1 enemy aircraft I spawn in in instant action. For reference I just did the 1v1 guns only F-15C and spawned a Su-27 and had this issue the entire fight. I've turned off windows power service as one of the recommended suggestions and hasn't helped. settings attached Specs: 6600k OC to 4.4GHz, 16GB RAM @ 2400MHz, AMD Radeon 5700XT, DCS on SATA SSD although not the only thing on the drive. As a side note so I don't open multiple threads, the AWACS has its popups and is sending messages but there's no audio for it. Haven't seen any issues or setting related to this issue. Any suggestions?
  5. Hi everyone. So unfortuntately I didn't pick up any modules before the sale ended, but I do have a stick now. Logitech extreme 3D pro joystick and while i've only done a few test flights it feels far better than the K&M. Does anyone have a good keybind profile for this stick? I want to rebind the trim knob and it has a mini throttle on the actual stick, but I don't know how to bind the throttle since it doesn't show up ingame. Also any suggestions further for headtracking? I have a webcam, but FaceTrackNoIR seemed to cost a few dollars (literally only like $2-3) IIRC, and trackIR is supposed to be expensive. Ideally I'm looking for a free option but if need be I'd go with FaceTrackNoIR. Although purchasing it sounded rather sketchy. Had to send someone $ through paypal and they'd email it to me or something. Also are there options to rather the contrast of the HUD ingame? It can be rather difficult to see the HUD without zooming in a decent amount.
  6. I think after watching a few videos and this threads recommendations i'll pick up flaming cliffs 3 and maybe (still on the fence on this) the F/A18C Hornet. Depends how much I wanna spend at that moment I guess. To help solidify the latter part of that sentence in question, how often do ED have sales for modules? If it's frequent I'd rather wait on the Hornet. I tried out the Su-25T yesterday with a K&M and, while not great and a few spin outs, I think i'll try and pick up either a cheap HOTAS or stick and try getting into DCS. Thank you for all the helpful tips everyone.
  7. So the modules being sold by ED are the more realistic ones I take it? Also would you recommend the Flaming cliffs 3 pack? Seems to come with a lot of content and is currently $25. Might grab it if it’s worth it.
  8. Will probably try out the Su-25T with a controller at least to see how it goes. Thanks for the tips! Yeah I have a controller so I guess i'll try that. If I can find this HOTAS at $100 or $150 with pedals like you say I might grab it. Thanks for the info. I do have a webcam so I can at least try out the head tracking for free. I honestly don't know the other routes other than VR. I'd like to see what is accessible atm but i'm sure VR would give the full experience I assume. Thanks for the tips! I'm not sure what the difference between "complete" and "incomplete" module would be, or if that just means purchasing the module? Fidelity would be nice to an extent I suppose. Authenticity is always a plus, but if I grab the Su-27 or Su-33 deciphering russian would be rather difficult for me since I'm only fluent in english. Both is probably nice, although air-to-air would be me go-to I think. Can you fly against the AI or is this purely PvP? I'd like to try out CAS as it would probably be a good place to practice. I don't really know the different eras beyond WW2 and Cold war, maybe post Cold war like the super hornet? I didn't think there were many post Cold war era aircraft ingame. I've seen videos of the F-22 but didn't see a module, so I assumed it was a mod? I'd like Cold war fighters preferably. As I said in OP, Su-27, Su-33, F-15, F-16, and F-18 would be a good starting point for me I think. Thanks for the tips!
  9. Hi so I've been thinking about playing DCS for a long time now, and am downloading it currently to try out the free modules, but I only have a keyboard and mouse. Obviously i'm not going to get the best experience without a full HOTAS and VR set, but i'd like to get my feet wet before I think about dropping large amounts of money into a setup. I've played a lot of War Thunder air which is I know arcadey by comparison but hopefully something counts towards here. I've had pilot training as well, although i'm not licensed. I'd like to look into jet fighters if i'm going into modules. Probably something along the lines of the MiG-29, Su-27, Su-33, F-15, F-16, F-18. Any recommendations for that? All tips welcome as well. Thanks!
