Hey @BIGNEWY, one question: was there any change to the radar in the F16 in the last patch?

There was no note of this in the patchnotes and as so often noticable changing in the radar behavior ist labeled as "correct as it is". So no bug but no change in the beta, so what is it?

That’s what I want to know too.  Nobody has said anything about any changes to the fcr in the last patch or 2 but clearly somethings quite different.

Got hold of a VKB stick so now looking for a throttle and a switch panel.

<profanity>. Just grab u a x52 or x56 throttle off ebay. With modifiers, that’s a damn good start

Ive edited the first post to simplify things, I was not out to decieve anyone, and I might have been unclear on certain things.

I think as Skwirl865 said, a ideal setup would be a VKB and gladiator, and maybe a x-55/x-56 throttle (I have TWCS today, and if nothing else, the x-55/x-56) can become a button board if it fails).

But mostly after the joystick however, or the virpil base.

If u have the twcs throttle, just use that. It’s not bad and with the gladiator stick, you’ll be golden.
also, don’t hesitate to order the stick from vkb China. I ordered one for me and one for my son at different times about a month apart.  I got FedEx the first time and DHL the second.  FedEx was about a week and DHL was either 3 or 4 days and with shipping from China to the United States, the total for the premium stick was just $190 so u might as well just order u a new stick and either use the twcs throttle or jump on ebay and grab an x52 throttle for $40-$50 and be up and at it in under a week

    Tjenare!

I understood your sentiment just fine. Yeah, maybe we do things differently here, way up North! 😄

Anyway, on finn.no, if there ever are any VBK or Virpil, they ask almost the same price as new, and they of course want the shipping too.

TM Warthogs go for less, but that's probably because you can basically get them in stores here with no waiting list or back orders. I got mine second hand for 3500 NOK

I wish you luck, but you might want to consider saving up a couple of months and just bite the bullet. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Cheers!

    This is actually accurate.
anything virpil goes for more used because of the shipping/wait time and paranoia over the situation in Ukraine. They’re going for almost double the price on ebay but for no reason because the wait ordering from virpil is not bad. I just got me warbrd base and alpha stick and it was u see 3 weeks from order to arrival.

for the original poster, a great functional option would be what I had before my virpil hotas which is a gladiator nxt stick and a Logitech x52(or x56) throttle.  Their sticks suck but the throttles feel amd work great for the money. Not as many buttons as the virpil but for the money, that hotas setup worked phenomenally. I just sold both on ebay this week for more than I asked here but nobody replied on my post so I put em on ebay.

really look into that tho.  For your budget, u can’t beat the nxt. It really is a great stick. The difference in something like the virpil is just the customizability. The accuracy and everything else is pretty much on par.

Sorry, I was away from teh forums for a few days and just catching up. It sounds like you found a good solution in the FoxxMounts adapter plate, but if you still need pictures of my mod, just let me know and I'll grab some tonight or tomorrow.

By the way, I also use velcro for my throttle and it's very solid, with no extraneous movement I can detect whatsoever. I never met a job that I couldn't needlessly overcomplicate, but in this case the easy way really was best.

I’m ok now.  For a temporary solution, I figured out that 2 of the screws for the warthog plate would go into the Virgil throttle bottom so I osed that for the throttle and then got some “dual lock” Velcro type stuff that’s like Velcro but stronger. I used that on the bottom of the warbrd desk plate to hook it to the warthog i no mounting plate and voila!   I can’t even tell it’s not screwed in. I’m glad I ordered the actual plates cuz I really want them but if I had come up with this solution before I bought them, I might not have lol

I just used sticker sheets of hook and loop off amazon and it feels totally secure to me, its never detached or needed adjustment, it helps that the vpc throttles are just a big flat square with lots of surface area, another model of throttle could have less surface area and hypothetically be less firmly stuck.

I ordered the dual lock stuff for a temporary solution but then I got in touch with the guy at FoxxMounts. He has a universal plate that also works with monster tech mounts. It’s drilled to fit just about all the different throttles and stick bases from the warthog to virpil to vkb.  I ordered 2 of them. One for my warbrd base and another for my cm3 throttle.  They’re just $35 each and shipping is free.  I figured the peace of mind was worth that.
    Have a look.

You can use axis to buttons to map the stick to function more as a hat, but I don't think there is a way to use the depress as a toggle to change it's behavior. You could have the stick setup as an axis as normal, and then use the depress as a modifier in DCS to only trigger the axis to buttons commands when it is depressed.

That’s what I did initially but I use joystick gremlin so I figured out how to do it in there.  I ended up doing something even better. I made it toggle to mouse xy and then on the other side of the toggle it’s axis to button. Also in mouse mode, the trigger switches to the left clock and the pinky modifier makes it right click. The scroll wheel on the stick is set to be an actual scroll wheel so the times I’m flying in VR, I have full mouse control without taking the headset off or touching the mouse.  It worked out pretty sweet.

I use a Wheelstand Pro Super Warthog configuration, and I had a similar issue going from my Warthog stick to a Virpil base. Drilling the existing mounting plate wasn't really going to work because of the dimensions, so I createad a "go-between" plate out of MDF. I drilled countersunk holes from the bottom up for the machine screws that go into the bottom of the Vipril base, and then I used wood screws up through the holes of the Wheelstand Pro's Warthog mounting plate into the MDF. It adds about half an inch between the mounting plate and the base, but in my setup that was no problem. With the MDF (or any sort of wood) painted black, it doesn't even look as cheap as it sounds. 🙂 It was a relatively easy fix using materials and tools I had handy, though I'm sure there are more elegant solutions for those with access to tooling, 3D printing, etc.

What u did is exactly what I want. I don’t have any of the tools to do it but maybe I can find someone who does.
how hard would it be to take a few pics of what u did and post em?

  9. Me and my son both fly and recently upgraded. I also just got a constellation alpha so I’ve upgraded my upgrade and am selling my old stick as well.
