  1. Couldn't be bothered to sift through EVERY post on this thread, but here's one. Sorry if it was already mentioned While goofing off at altitude I yanked the stick back to an extreme AOA. The engines (especially the right one) surged for a moment from the turbulance off the airfoils, but stabilized after recovery to 'normal flight'. NEAT!

I can get in my PMDG MD-11 and fly --non stop, with no loading-- from Memphis to Tokyo... With a systems fidelity rivaling the level-d sim's at Fedex. On the same *platform* I can load up my A2A J3 and putt around my home town, Salisbury. And whoever doesn't think it's apples to oranges has no real experience in CIVIL sims. I don't see what the fuss is about. These sims are different but do what they intend to well. During my instrument training I used Fs2004 and an addon by Carenado (C172) to shoot practice approaches into Rowan airport and Lexington. I had the same approaches on my practical test... FS9=$40 (7 years ago) Carenado 172= 23$ 430 GPS addon= 30$ Therefore 10 hours in my simulator practicing approaches= 93$ 10 hours in the real plane= 1200$ EDIT: Dont think I'd practice my approaches in DCS or Falcon or F/A-18 or IL2 or etc... Point is it's apples to oranges. :P

I'm sorry but that comparison is apples and oranges.... I do agree DCS is fantastic, but are you using high quality add ons in FSX/FS9? Anyone can tell you the default aircraft are crap.
  4. I'm glad someone knows the basics of FLYING! Plus one rep!
  5. I really wish folks would list computer specs when saying things like this... I get anywhere from 10fps when looking towards certain airport buildings to 60+ when in cruise at FL200+. I can really tell when I'm facing certain fps killing objects.
  6. Seriously? The FA-18 beats out the Tomcat? I'm literally appalled. There has been NO decent F-14 sim of any kind and it's one of the most bad ass planes ever to fly. ...I just don't get you guys...
  7. I did a quick browse through the threads and haven't seen this mentioned... For those not using Nhancer or if you don't know what it is, DISREGARD. As a DCS Blackshark user I had created an Nhancer profile that gave better anti-aliasing in game. I had considerable performance problems in A-10C in the past few hours I've tested but made break through this morning before class. I believe Nhancer was seeing Black Shark's executable (DCS.exe) as A-10C's executable. After setting BOTH from override application settings to "use application setting" my performance is now perfectly acceptable!
