  1. here is a track of a p51 losing its tail, and yet can still operate the elevators. p51 tail gone.trk
  2. First off, i would like to mention that the damage model update is visually stunning. Great Job Team!!!!! That being said, It could use a bit of polishing. example: - when flying ANY WW2 fighter, you can have both ailerons shot right off and still be able to maneuver as though they are both still present. - You can have a mid-air collision, lose half your fuselage and a wing and still fly as though no structural failures occurred. - The AI fuel tanks catch fire far too frequently, given that historically speaking, self sealing tanks were available on all bombers since 1942, and on all fighters since 1943. Seeing as the models of B17G (cheyenne tail and chin turrets) available in DCS were introduced in 1943, these had self sealing tanks. - having a brush with the ground can damage your propeller, clip a wing, yet if you pull out right on contact, you can still fly as though the ground was never touched. - The i16 radiator damage vapors are far too outwards on the wing. they are appearing at the wing tip instead of just before the inner aileron seam. - when a landing gear loses hydraulic pressure and lowers, it will automatically enter locked state. This should not be the case on the Spitfire, The Fw190 nor the BF109 as they had hydraulic landing gear locks. It should remain in free floating state. PS. The incorporation of the propeller vibration when hit with a bullet was truly a great feature in the damage model. This goes without saying that the team has done truly wonderful work !!!!!
  3. I've also noticed that since the new DM, if you clip the wing of the spit or p51 say, on a tree, the wing shears off, yet the flight characteristics have not been altered. I have flown in dogfights with a missing wing section and was even able to land softly with no issues. This should definitely not be the case. Overall the new DM is pretty good but it could definitely use some slight tweaking and refining to improve the overall accuracy.
  4. Hi all, wasn't too sure where to drop this topic in since it isn't so much of a bug as feedback. I've noticed that the new-ish damage model (phenomenal job by the way) has flaming fuel tanks in nearly every case where more than 20 rounds hit the wings. I would like to stress the inaccuracy of this as most planes built after late 1942 were equipped with self sealing tanks, making a tank flame trail a near never occurence. For example on, the b17 and the A20, a few bursts of bf-109 machine guns (not cannons) will yield in a few tanks bursting into flames. This would not happen on the B17G as it was equipped with highly efficient self sealing tanks. Not sure if there is a way to reduce the probability of a flaming tank in the new damage model ?
