SINCE 2017, OUR NINTH VIRTUAL SQUADRON SIMULATES THE FLIGHT OPERATIONS OF THE NINTH HUNTING AND ATTACK SQUADRON OF THE SPANISH NAVY AIRCRAFT FLOTILLA (FLOAN), WHICH WITH MORE THAN 20 YEARS OF HISTORY BEHIND IT AND MORE THAN 50,000 HOURS OF FLIGHT, PROVIDES THE ABILITY TO BE THE ONLY SHIPPABLE FIXED-WING SQUADRON IN THE NAVY. THE AV-8B HARRIER II + IS THE AIRCRAFT THAT THIS SQUADRON HAS; THE FIRST FIGHTER IN THE WORLD CAPABLE OF TAKING OFF AND LANDING VERTICALLY OR ON SHORT RUNWAYS, WHICH FORMS AN EXCELLENT PAIRING WITH THE L-61 “JUAN CARLOS I” AIRCRAFT CARRIER, ITS REASON FOR BEING AND FROM WHICH IT OPERATES PARTICIPATING IN THE MISSIONS ENTRUSTED TO IT.

Since 1954, the Spanish Navy Aircraft Flotilla (FLOAN) has been in charge of providing air support and protection to The Fleet and providing air support to the Marine Corps. It is made up of eleven squadrons in total, seven of them active and four deactivated, each equipped with a specific aircraft model.
