Windows WP64 is still in beta stage which means that SF will not even bother to develop the driver for it.
However ED will not have to recompile the exe for the game. 64 bits sytem can still use 32 bits adressing program.
Win XP64 had gone gold about 3 weeks ago and has been on sale since the last week (OEM) here:

What a silly, and pointless thread.
Just like your reply to it?
XP64 is finally out after 1/2 year delay at least.
Lots of people have been waiting for the last 2 years to use their AMD CPUs up to their full potencial.
There is a lot of good info already in this short thread about Lockon, SF and TIR in XP64 enviroment, and SF doesn't even get as much bashing as I expected.

Skywall23, start IE and go to Options->Temporary Internet Files->Settings and set "check for new versions of stored pages"-> Automatic.
Automatic is default so I presume he is having it selected already. Changing this to "Every visit to the page" will force IE to check for the new version of the page on every click. I found automatic not to be so "automatic".
The most of this kind of problems are sorted by clearing the cache.
-
-Delete your Temporary Internet files (through options\general)
-In "Options\general\Temp Internet files\Settings " select "Every visit to the page"
-Best to restart the browser before trying to load the page
-Use Firefox instead
Make sure you dont't start from the shortcut, type the link manually.
I hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't Waddington, but my memory's hazy. The Airstrip was higher than the viewing area I seem to remember. At least it was from where I was stood. And I'm pretty sure the number was 37... thirty something anyway. Again, could be my memory. Was feeling really tired that day and didn't take any photos.
But the landing, turn, take-off trick was the same. very noisy and very impressive! I do remember alarms going off as well though. Nice calling card :-) Almost as impressive though was it's incredible silhouette in the sky as it turned tightly around the airfield. The huge fluorescent numbers on the wing do strange things to your sense of scale, it was a particularly memorable experience. Your clip brought it all back to me, thanks.
Oh. If it helps I seem to remember the only reason I went to that show was that the American F-16 display team was flying. I hadn't seen them before. All I remember of that was their formations didn't seem as tight as the Red Arrows and that they seemed rather keen on the Stars & Stripes for some reason :-D
Andrew McP... who doesn't go to airshows these days in protest at the lack of Su-27's gracing our skies these days. It's a crime! (Actually last I heard it was because Sukhoi were afraid their aircraft would get "repossessed" by the agents of people they owe money to in the West. My information may be out of date these days :-)
Andrew McP
Waddington 2000 had Thunderbirds performing at the end of Saturay only.
They didn't impress me either, to many quiet breaks in the display. Yes, Stars & Stripes in the comentary was way over the top, people were rolling in laughter.
-
Great shots aren't they. I saw a Viggen display at an airshow a few years ago and was very impressed, particularly by the "reverse down the runway" trick they do. Useful for 3-point turns I guess :-)
Shame they're disappearing from active duty, but the Gripen's quite an interesting aircraft. Nowhere near as "solid" looking though, and it's that strang ecombination of elegance and brutality which gives the Viggen its charm.
Andrew McP
You must have been at Wadington 2000, this was the last time I saw them in UK. I fell in love with Viggen that year after that awesome trick and a sheer power. I call it a "Monster" and only Eurofighter came close to her so far in sheer power category.
The link below is to my video where Viggen slams down hard on runway, stops in 1/3 of it, reverses and do a 3 point turn, reverses little bit more and than takes off from that 1/3 of the runway in opposite dirrection of the landing. All car alarms went off like crazy!

"As the Crow Flies", as a highly positive rating.
This is from trophy categories used by Royal International Air Tatoo.
In 2003 I've seen one of the best displays so far from the winner of this trophy, Captain Zoltan Szabo in Hungarian Mig 29. The guy hasn't left the edge of the airfield for the whole of the display.

This thread sunk down quickly with burst of 1.1 threads so many people might have not seen it.
I should be safe now to bump this ;)

This year The London Air Show went easier on the pocket for me, only a couple of life jackets bought opposed to last year's colour GPS .
Enough of blabing, this year I noticed something that really shocked me by the way of presentation: Breitling Fighter Challenge 2005!
The setup was as following:
Two pits, operators console in the middle and the screen in front for the crowd with the same output as operators console.
And guess what this setup was running on? The subject gave it away: Lockon!
And how was it presented on Airshow's website:
"Incorporating cutting edge military software"
Pits:
Three screens (~40 inch) joint together next to each other
Saitek X-52 joystick
Nice low sitting pit ( I coudn't descibe this one properly in english, sorry)
Operators console:
40 inch screen
In beetween pits
Spectators screen:
40 inch screen
Reflecting view on operators console
In front of operators console
Due to arriving late I didn't have time to try it out myself nor to speak to any members of the Breitling team (I am kicking myself for this now), so I'll just post quick notes of what I observed:
- Mission was set over airfield in far south-west of the map
- 2 F-15s opposing each other from a mile (or less) apart
- Default radar mode set to key 3
- AMRAM missiles loaded
- Operators screen fliped beetween (default) F10 map view (to show planes relative to each other to public) and external view of planes. If someone was shoot down by missile operator would flick to F2 mode and public would laugh watching crippled plane going down in flames. Just imagine how they would react if they had seen FC FM with planes falling apart and going down in the thick black smoke in several sections! Sadly, they didn't show the missile view while I was there.
- Most of the people stalled, spun and crashed  . Showes how Lomac is done nicely as a simulation, you just can't throw your plane around like there is no tommorow and expect not to get punished.
Some people managed to use missiles, boy did they spam, and there was one chap who even switched to guns.
- After a kill the game was over, operator would restart the mission only if planes spun or crashed early.
- There was no lag or any online multiplayer problems
The presentation was 1st class and I loved the fact our beloved Lockon was in the center of the attention. This is all about I can tell you and I hate the fact I had my camera on me last year, but not this one.
I wonder if ED has showed something like this to military, if not don't worry I'll collect my royalties later ;).

That is the fun part is going back to base landing and rearming, then doing it all over again. If you are going to use 24 Mavs, you might as well use UNLIMITED LOADOUTS AND FUEL.
Exactly what I was thinking…
-
Oh, that would be sweet.
I end up flying Mig29 only, mostly due to Russkie+R77 Combo and noticed a lack of skins for it. There are even more skins for Mig29A and I always wondered why so few skins are available.
Many many thanks in advance.
Damir

I am a bit confused about Mig 29C, did you think Mig 29S? (I am currently in different country to where my Lockon resides, so I can't check)
If so follow the thread posted by Pilotasso, it works a treat for me.
Pilotasso, you are the man!

I've used this guys drivers for quite some time now. They're based on the the authentic Catalyst drivers. No issues. Just performance.
Good luck,
-Chris
Me too, and as in Chris case no issues and slighly better performance.

From what I understand, no one is currently banned from our server. I'll have to double-check our router config to confirm that, but we haven't been using the old BlackICE system for a long long time.
I wouldn't waste your time with this guy Cali. Judging by the entirely antagonistic nature of his posts here, DeathAngel probably had his connection dropped once way back for some obscure reason (I'm guessing it was attitude related), and has held a grudge ever since. His posts here don't have any other point besides provocation. DeathAngel is just trying to force us off onto a very childish tangent, because of some kind of personal dislike for the numbers 169.
What a waste of time. If he has something he wants to say, let him bring it to us directly. In here, he's just creating another potential headache for the ED mods.
I was just having fun with the guy, but I would have like to fly with him in hyper.
And how would flying in the lobby settle the argument????
I thought 169th got more to their senses ever since Sven went away. I remember him calling every man, cat and a dog for a duel on HL when argument would not go his/169th way. Kind of reminds me of a loud guy in the bar asking everyone for a punch-up outside if the things don’t go his way. Not the best way to represent one of the best squads there.
I see habit is still there, but rather than screamed across it’s now being done in more subtle way.
Don’t take this in the wrong way 169th, but commenting “between yourselves” on the ED forum and asking for fights does not bring across the best qualities of your squad.
I never said me against him did I? I said lets have a fly, I was thinking we could practice, I could show him some tips and help him out.
I actually was thinking of the quote on the page 2 when posting:
DeathAngelBR wrote:

Indeed, even there it wasn't a direct call for a fight, sorry I over-reacted. It's the ghosts from the past ringing alarm bells, I certainly wouldn't want this board to turn into what UBI forums were at the time.

I'm just glad that ED are considering other methods of copy-protection. Once again, they show us that they listen to the community. Thumbs-up to that!
I really, really want this sim to do well (swell, actually), and it made me sad to see all the people who said that they would abandon the product if only StarForce would be used. Sad because ED deserves to succeed in their mission (not to conquer the world, but you know..), and having a method of copy-protection spoil it all would be a darn shame!
Yes, listening to community should have been my forgoten no.4
I am one of those who said I would abandon this product and unfortunately woudn't changed my mind after a cool of period.
I love Lockon, there is nothing else even near it, so this choice would definitevly broke my heart.
-
I was the one that found StarForce in the demo and brought it up on the public russian forum. The only reason I found it and brought it up is because I installed Windows XP 64 beta and discovered that demo won't work ther because StarForce would not support it yet.
I regret bringing it up as I only wished that XP 64 was supported, not to start this drama which in turn did cause an unexpected delay in releasing the addon. Good thing we've got the demo to practice.
If you have any doubdts about buying FC 1.1 that's fine, just make sure you re-read this http://www.lockon.ru/index.php?lang=en&scr=list&end_pos=9&page=2
and make sure you'll find a substitution.
That is, if you need this kind of realism at all in a PC computer simulator priced ~$30...
Don't regret a single bit, I only saw good things coming out of all this "histeria":
1. Brought up StarForce issue which turned out to be mistake to be included in 1.1 demo. Clean 1.1 version is being prepared and why would you regret that?
2. Exposed the bad way SF is designed to run, the best explanation comes from Hodgepodge and it could not have been better written:
http://forum.lockon.ru/viewtopic.php?t=3393&start=240
3. Even though developers were looking into different protections all along this might be a strong point to deter them away from StarForce. From developers point of view this is currently probably the strongest protection on the market but it comes with it's own bag of issues, as in no.2.
This showed many people are prepared not to buy this product because of SF subject and ED can't afford to reduce already limited nitche market because of such issues.

Many thanks Wags.

Re: Facts & Experiments with 1.1 (demo) protection
So when I ran the 1.1 demo for the first time what happened? :?:Nothing.
No outgoing connections, no unexpected traffic, no problem running the demo.
I've noticed the same before. That why I was not panicing.
I'm using Sygate Personal Firewall as my firewall software. And I give auto-access only to trusted apps. Everything else needs my manual intervention... even explorer.exe (kernel, lsa shell, generic host - svchost, and NDIS User mode I/O driver - ndisuio.sys are blocked from the first day - that's why no DOS attacks..never..ever.)
So firewall heard nothing from StarForce so far.
That's correct, it shouldn't have and it's good it didn't (yet).

BUT' date=' it has been proved that Starforce has bugs that ALLOW malicious software to do things on some PCs that shouldn't be able to do.[/quote']
where is the provement?
o4ki, read my first post again.
Question for you.
Quote:
Im sure they will make normal protection with bindinf to CD.
Why are you so sure. Are you developer?
Ever heard of software coming up with different type of protection for Demo and Full version. LOL
Mind you, with all this screaming they would be fools not to look into something else now.

I tried to stick to only security side of the things, although my fingers were twiching to spell the beans exactly about all the points Starlight mentioned.
I did put in the brackets "still not a bad idea to test though" exactly having in mind people alerting about info being sent to SF without our knowledge and I'm glad you can confirm that is not the case.
Why I was suspicious that was the case: someone from SF denied it and I just coudn't trust them.
SF are the company making the living from protecting manufacturer and producer rights and should know all about legal aggrements and rights . On the other hand when it came to the user rights they have chosen to ignore those completely from the begining under the banner "nah, they won't kick up the fuss about removal issue, let's just leave it there".
Users did kick up the fuss so they so they produced cleaner tool and sudenly recomend to publishers (like ED) to include this in their distributions, but it should be realy part of the SF . A bit late for demo version.
Thanks for those tests keithb, I didn't mean to sound ungreatfull.

I think you are confused with one thing:
As of now Sf will not do anything to your PC, no tcp traffic or nasty suprises so you experiment is bound to prove nothing (still not a bad idea to test though). There is no malicious virus, backdoor or exploit writen (yet) for SF (as far as I know), you can browse anti-virus and even spyware site databases and you will not find anything under SF entrie.
In all those 20+ pages of posts there was not a one saying "the whole world is now connected to my PC", "My BIOS got wiped clean" etc.
What is kicking up all the fuss for a lot of people is realising negative (as in bad, nasty) POTENCIAL of this extremly badly writen peace of software.
SF out of the box was allowing user accounts to run admin priviledges on computer. That was fixed in 1.0 version (as posted on their website) but there was so many vulnerabilities left, even in the late 3.XX versions.
SF vulnerabilities are listed on several legimit security sites (without examples abviously) and there are proof of concepts (ready to use) comming out already on the web on some more dubious sites, such as http://www.starforcemeat.tk/
This means someone will sooner or later write something that will take advantage of SF being installed on your computer and even if you are logged on as guest (very protected account) you will still be able to wipe out your HDD, BIOS or whatever the bastard writter intended.
For me, the most idiotic thing in all these 20 pages was explanation from someone working in StarForce explaining decision on why the driver stays installed even if you uninstall the game:
wait for it...
Abbie Sommer: The fact that they remain was something that no one predicted would be such a contentious issue.
Why ED decidided to use such mediocra company is beyond me. Maybe becaouse this is still one of the most higly regarded copy protections out there, but they just didn't put any effort in searching about problems and issues it may bring due to a bad implementation.
That's one guranteed sale lost on my behalf if they don't change it.
