I believe this is only specific to the Naval Phantoms, but I recall something about launch/trap cycles damaging the innards of the Sparrows as well during the early days, leading to a lot of failures in combat.

It was accelerated in the navy, buy the airforce suffered from similar problems due to improper storage and rough ground handlers.

Yes please supply tracks and such, its better to do one bug per thread as well, so separate the MiG-21 and Mi-24 bugs. Thanks!

Suspect it's a mirror issue as a whole, plan to hop into every module I have that I know has a mirror and will report. If it seems to be isolated to just the 21 and the 24 will mark as resolved and separate into individual threads with videos/pictures and the tracks.

  3. The rear view periscope on the Mig-21 specifically seems to be having the most issues. Mi-24 had the still image bug mention below occur once, but upon reloading worked fine. Will try to make a point to get images and recordings in the near future and share here.

    Specifically these issues are:

    Sometimes can't toggle on/off.

Sometimes can toggle, but will keep a still image of the last image seen in the periscope rather than revert to black.

Sometimes won't turn on to begin with.

Issues have been inconsistent when they do occur, but consistent in that they will occur reliably for one load or another.

Ex, join a server, won't be able to toggle the mirror on or off no matter what slot or how many times I respawn

Leave and rejoin server, this time doing the still image bug instead with the same bug occurring consistently until I leave and rejoin again.

    Rough specs:

    i7-10700KF

    NVIDIA 2070 Super 8GB

    64 GB Ram

    1080p resolution on a 1440p TUF monitor.

  4. Gentlemen. You might be wondering why I've decided to bring this post back. It's simple.

Much like a planetary orbit, we're coming back around. The theory is BACK ON. ALL CHIPS ON THE THEORY.

Wow these videos are great.. I'd often set these to loop while I fell asleep.

Another great video that came out today from the Operations Room channel on youtube about Israeli F-4 action during the Yom Kippur War:

Don't forget the Intel Report half of it.

Hi there, since there were so many grey-nosed german F-4's in the trailers, i've got a litte curious.

The grey nose indicated the ICE Upgrad to the F-4F with the Huges APG-65 RADAR and henceforth AMRAAM capability.

Are we going to get that as well??? 😄

Not right out of the box.
They've not made comment on if they'll do the ICE upgrade to my understanding, though they have directly said no to a "baseline" F-4F.
They have fully stated that they are committing to a US naval phantom as the next "Phantom family member", the J and the S being the front runners from what little they've commented on it.

Past the J and the S, we might very well get an ICE upgraded F-4F down the line, but we can't really say. Either way that's going to be waaaaay down the line assuming they don't pick something like the EJ Kai instead of the ICE. Definitely after the Euro Fighter, the A-6, the F-4J or S, and whatever other projects HB get themselves involved in between now and then.

We are talking about less than a tank of gas per module here.

Less than dinner for 3 at any restaurant that doesn't deliver your meal in a bag or a box.

Less than 15 (Starbucks) cups of coffee.

    Less than 4 movie tickets.

All for people that have, for the most part, already spent thousands to have the equipment to play the game well in the first place. All this nonsense about costs and concerns about release dates is mind boggling to me. Am I the only one flying who isn't a teenager with a paper route or something??? Sure there's going to be a small handful of ppl that cannot afford $100.00 over 2 months of wages, I guess... but honestly, you're telling me that ppl with video cards that cost the same as my last car are now fretting over the financial decision between 2 jets that have so little in common, that beyond having 2 engines and somewhere for the pilot to sit, are completely different experiences aimed at very different uses and users?? I call bullsh*t on that one. Anyone under 25 that's busting their ass and legitimately cannot afford both,  you're exempt from this mini-rant. 🙂

As someone who's going through college, having to "fill up my tank of gas" two times, then going and ACTUALLY filling up my tank of gas would be a significant bite out of my available cash

Supposedly there will be some news in the next 6 months according to some post by someone from HB some where...Personally I feel its a year or more out from release. But we will see. Im not optimistic about it at all.

There was another thread where they said they were unsure who said the 6 month mark, and continue to emphasize ASAP. Didn't DISPROVE the 6 month post directly, but saying they aren't sure who said it means it wasn't an official stance.

Also, we've been getting little drips of information on the discord, mostly responses to questions about systems and capabilities, but it's been a few days since we last got anything on that.

The point of this thread escapes me.

If it was planned to elicit a response from Heatblur, then well done, mission accomplished.

Cobra categorically stated the Strike Eagle release will have no impact on the F-4.

Any post thereafter is essentially engaging in a circle-jerk of escalating speculation and insinuations that he's wrong.

The pointlessness of the previous 3 pages of this thread defies comprehension.

As the page creator, original goal was just to spark fresh conversation. If it got an HB response then more credit to it, but at the time of posting the forum was dying down pretty hard, so made it. However I kind of agree that a good chunk of the conversations past the HB post has been pointless. I will say that talking about who think is going to outsell who isn't the worst conversation, but people saying "erm well actually I think it will anyways" are wasting their time.

---But I will highlight that baiting an HB response was never the intentional goal. Just a happy side effect.

Any more news on ''the Phantom family'' types/variants etc that are possibly going to be included?

I know the Naval version is likely included, but anything on RAF/Royal Navy versions whispered about in quiet corners or alleyways?

    I'll be buying it regardless...

Only confirmed the Naval variant past the E, sadly.

Made a direct attack against the German F-4F. Didn't specify if the ICE upgrades were on the table or not.

I personally only expect maybeee the Japanese variant past the F-4E and one of the Naval variants, and it'll be very, very low on the module totem pole in terms of how much attention is going to be dedicated to it.

Or instead of the Japanese variant, maybeeeeeee the much later variants that we can see in Turkey or Greece today with better radars and AMRAAM capability. I have my personal doubts on those, but I'm also biased in that I don't own or intend to buy a single module capable of AMRAAM slinging in game, except maybe if they bring one of those very late model Sea Harriers in.

Hey Czech, is that a speculation of yours, or has it been stated somewhere by the devs?

    Speculation. Full quote there is:

"I would imagine it would [Have a2a refueling], but could also easily imagine that being a feature that's having issues and needs to be held back for a later release."

Why do people still think the Phantom is anywhere close? We have not seen a full reveal yet or even cockpit shots.

Allowed to be hopeful! The screenshots lacking is expected in any scenario, they've said from the start we're not getting much info until it's pretty much upon us. I'm expecting somewhere in the first half of the year, but, I'm half in the skeptics club where I'll say I really do have no idea when it will actually release, and I don't know of it'll be that hoped for first half or much later.

This is an embarrassing admission coming from an American , but the best feature length film showcasing F-4E content comes from the repressive Islamic Iranian government.

It’s a film titled “Attack on H3”, presenting a dramatized version of a real attack the IRIAF made against Saddam’s farthest air base. Fortunately much like the latest Top Gun movie they don’t focus on politics. Just the aircraft and mission details. If nothing else, whoever filmed and edited this was a true Persian Phantom Phanatic.

Watched it. Was alright, and if this really the best we've got I cry. Don't think they gave a single shot of the back seaters station, I cry.

  14. Like I asked. F-15E is set to pre-order starting Feb 15. Technically speaking I don't think they are required to release with a certain gap in between them, especially given its a non-ED module, but we don't know to what extent ED tries to referee the release schedule, if at all.

So restating, think the F15E is going to have an impact on when we finally get our hands on our F-4Es?

Excuse me if it's been answered before, I haven't seen it.

Will we get the Classic and upgraded E immediately at launch? Or one first, then the other like the F-14 B and A?

And if anyone could explain the differences between the 2 E's, I'd appreciate it.

We're getting the Early E first, then getting the late E later, so like the F14 B then A release plan.

Key differences is the later E is getting early digitization efforts and the DMAS systems, which I don't know personally all the details off the top of my head, but essentially expands ground attack capabilities. Pretty sure it adds CCIP for one but I'm not 100% certain off the top of my head.

Scrolling back through old threads. DMAS bird will get access to the PAVE TACK TPOD for one. Will edit this message with other bits I've found.

Check that out and it should give you some good answers.

Will the HB F-4E carry out Air Refueling or will the version we are going to receive not do it?  Thanks!

    https://youtu.be/EVHXv1lPxG4

If we're talking if the F-4E is physically capable of A2A refueling, yes. Specifically, like said above, with a flying boom, and the naval variant when it comes out will use probe/drogue.
However, HB hasn't directly addressed if it will come out of the box with the capability or not. I would imagine it would, but could also easily imagine that being a feature that's having issues and needs to be held back for a later release.

    tl;dr
    We'll get it eventually
