Beta DCS A-10 owner question I was an early adopter of the A-10 module when it was in beta. Upon release the Nevada map was pulled and we were promised the Nevada map as a free map in the future. Since now, the Nevada map is using the Edge technology, will we (beta adopters) still be receiving this for free? (This may have been answered many times in the past but focus has changed on the Nevada map and it may be different now) Thanks is advance for any official response.

From the manual "MODE SWITCH. The Mode switch has three possible positions: REM (remote), R (receive), and T (transmit). When set to REM, the radio is operated by the throttle Mic button, receiving when the Mic button is released and transmitting when it is pressed. When set to R, the radio is in continuous reception mode. When set to T, the radio is in continuous transmit mode. " Therefore, my understanding is leave radio in remote mode and use PTT button to transmit message with menu system and then release for receiving confirmation. Yes?:book:

Jocko - Thats why I could not talk to the ATC..you have my radio selector. Give it back!!
-
Revelation - The P-51D does not have a radio frequency selector for the VHF radio in the pit. I knew that each airport had its own frequency but could not figure out where to enter it. Nate - Thanks for the nudge in the right direction. Will investigate the ME tonight for radio frequencies As always.. answers to questions are readily available here.

Own the A10C, BS1, BS2, FC2 and now the P-51D. Started right at square one with the startup/taxi/takeoff and as anal as I am, was trying to contact the tower for startup, etc on NON easy communications. I have the VHF button B pushed and I push the PTT button \ for opening channel to the F5 ATC and ask for startup and they ignore me. Are comms still a WIP? P.S. Thanks ED for keeping the SIM dream alive.

You cannot setup an ingress as a DL point for your wingman to stay at. You can, however, setup a NAV TGT and then send that to him as a point to hover "around" . The wingmen have ADD and cannot sit still (hover at point). Instead they will circle the DL point (nav tgt) -
Also, forgot to mention since you seem to be at Angels 10 that the radar altitude will not show anything above 5000 feet. After 5000 feet it shows xxxx

No worries. Had the same question when I was doing some inland landings. The ground is a few 1000 feet above sea level there and it made for some quick adjustments on approach hehe

Just below the MSL reading is another reading in smaller font with an R beside it for RADAR and that is your AGL.

Wow... pretty intense. Invasion of the body snatchers right?

What is the best way to learn JTAC/datalink?
bulletproof replied to Bahger's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Bahger - Ya when the conversation occurs with the FAC you need to tell him to LASER ON. Don't do it until you are within 10 nautical miles or you will not track. Make sure you SPI the target zone to place the tgp in the ballpark and then tms short down to remove the track. You can now hit lss or dms long right for laser search. It will take a few secs and then track. Than you can SPI the target that was lased. If I spent some time and made a youtube account I would FRAPS capture the gameplay and post it. -

NP I have set this mission to midday and midnight and lasing occurs at both times. Make sure to set target point as MARK and then SPI the MARK from HUD .. it helps with the laser find when FAC lases target. -

Bahger - Sorry for the wait. Here is my simple JTAC test mission. Targets are two Artillery units and FAC is Hummer set to task you with guided bombs (wanted then to use their laser for spotting). You can utilize the LSS to search for laser marking and use as spot. Your Hog is loaded with GBU-10 and GBU-12. The trigger zone activates the FAC and lets you know what radio and frequency to use (72MHz VHF-FM). After the message appears you are clear to contact the FAC on designated frequency. Lots of jibber jabber back and forth when you start your run in. Love this sim. Enjoy. :pilotfly: JTAC.miz -
What is the best way to learn JTAC/datalink?
bulletproof replied to Bahger's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Mower - You do not need to type the coordinates in but it is possible by entering waypoint mode and than changing from LL to UTM to type in the coordinates. I tried it and it works. but see below After you read back the 9 line to the FAC they will transmit the coordinates to your TAD and you have the option of Wilco or Cantco on the TAD. When you accept with wilco you will see a red triangle on the TAD where the target is. Simply TMS Up long on the target with the TAD and it will be your target after you slave it. I hope this makes sense. -

Yep, created on Beta 3. Anxiously awaiting Beta 4 though, for those graphical optimizations we were promised. :) -

I am currently at work and I will be taking my daughter to a Girl Guides function tonight. I will definitely upload it when I have a free moment. It is simply a JTAC test with some artillery bombarding an ammunition depot off in the distance with a Hummer operating as the FAC. Do not expect a complete mission. :) -

So I modified one of my JTAC test missions and placed a Nav Point just to the North of the target zone and the 9 line skipped lines 1 to 3. I than took the Nav Point and placed it inline with my IP waypoint towards target area and the entire 9 line was read to me from the FAC. Thanks for the help. -

Gents I created a very simplified JTAC mission (thanks Revelation) to test with and it works great every time. However, when the 9 line is read to me it says "1,2,3 N/A" and than continues on perfectly with the rest of the 9 line starting at 4. When viewing Wags JTAC example video it seems to itemize each part of the 9 line. How do I have the FAC read back the first 3 components of the 9 line? (IP, direction, etc) Thanks for any help. -

Howse about the small things like the canopy(open/close), EAC and seat height switches? Anyone try GBU's with Mark points (not SPI)? Can't play til tomorrow night so download speed not an issue for me.
