  1. That's interesting. Dcs got it right thanks. And I get the vector problem but the blades are probably barley any RCS.
  2. From this forum As I understand it, a variable velocity gate was introduced at least partly so that F-15's stationed in Germany would stop getting locks on Autobahn traffic
  3. So then helicopters are invisible.
  4. Do we know the details? F 15 was set to ignore anything below 70mph on the autobahn.
  5. Ok, the Phoenix is pretty much a beast, it's one of the things that DCS gets accurate. But the B model still had the original radar. It was basically unusable over land. Is that done? https://fightson.net/1030/thoughts-on-radar-modes-of-the-awg-9/ bio (cat pilot) Low PRF (known in the AWG-9 as Pulse): Measures target range. Good for precise range measurement. Not good for look down due to ground clutter Also if you allow player to save and write the assembly code for the awg 9 it will be the best sim ever.
  6. Ok fine I won't disagree with the f-14H (Hollywood variant) All you have to do is actually cite that. I'll shut up forever you just have to cite your extreme claims. Also your realize compressor stall causes vibration and inflates G
  7. No offense. But there aren't any experts here. Only civilian video gamers claiming tomcats can pull 13g hypersonic.
  8. Cat doesn't go much above Mach 2. That ones just easy, we don't need DCS on more steroids than it already is.
  9. Any technical documents would be great, you should just have a repository where all the f 14 docs are stored because those are golden.
  10. I'm not asking him. It's just personal drama at this point. You're welcome.
  11. Ok fine.
  12. I don't think victory has disputed anything I said.
  13. Wow creason and mike are tomcat pilots?
  14. literal paste from Wikipedia. At low speeds, a delta wing requires a high angle of attack to maintain lift
  15. I don't see SMEs besides that one implausible anecdote from okie. Heatblur is Swedish. He's not a tomcat pilot.
  16. So is dcs.
  17. Ok sure. I'll take whatever you give.
  18. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panavia_Tornado Wing area: 26.6 m2 (286 sq ft) Empty weight: 13,890 kg (30,622 lb) [358] that's 105 lb per ft. Powerplant: 2 × Turbo-Union RB199-34R Mk 103 afterburning 3-spool turbofan, 43.8 kN (9,800 lbf) thrust each dry, 76.8 kN (17,300 lbf) with afterburner https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grumman_F-14_Tomcat#Variable-geometry_wings_and_aerodynamic_design Wing area: 565 sq ft (52.5 m2) wings only Empty weight: 43,735 lb (19,838 kg) 78 lbs per ft. Powerplant: 2 × General Electric F110-GE-400 afterburning turbofans, 16,610 lbf (73.9 kN) thrust each dry, 28,200 lbf (125 kN) with afterburner tw is 1.3 tomcat vs 1.1 tornado. .74 vs .67 dry. So it should be at best like a 20% difference.
  19. Tornado has basically the same t/w and loading as the cat.
  20. https://www.google.com/amp/s/hushkit.net/2020/03/17/pilots-of-7-rival-fighter-aircraft-types-describe-dogfights-against-f-16s/amp/ Rafael pilot so basically a f 16 is competitive against even a euro fighter. https://asmedigitalcollection.asme.org/appliedmechanicsreviews/article-abstract/43/9/209/399157/Lift-Force-of-Delta-Wings?redirectedFrom=PDF. deltas need a very high aoa.
  21. Great pdf, thanks. I know the compressor stall is mainly related to aoa. But sustaining a turn requires aoa so it's the same problem.
  22. If we're taking about a new build tomcat in 2021 flying to Siberia to dogfight a PAK, sure. But in real life these aircraft are completely depreciated and die at 6g.
  23. Are we talking about an abstract new aircraft limit or the actual? Because most real life aircraft are extremely old and fatigued.
  24. https://www.military.com/video/military-aircraft-operations/aviation-accidents/f-15-in-flight-breakup/661029574001 the f15 might actually break apart at pretty low sustained g. chock, thank you.
  25. Not sure. from the dcs manual included airframe improvements that increased G limits for production F-15A/B/C/D from 7 to 9 Gs,
