  1. I registered on these forums to try and get some idea of what is going on with all this. This seems to be a very common problem that many people are having issues with, the problem is that everyone explains it a little diffrent because it's quite hard to understand what is really going on. After having read many diffrent threads, and other websites, I am starting to suspect there is a "conflict" of sorts between various softwares. One of the things I've noticed is that FPSVR which is a great program for seeing VR performance, amplifies this problem major, resulting for me in like 1-2fps with overlay on, and 45 fps with it off.... I think part of the problem is that VR got off to a bit of a bad start software wise, as there are so many various technologies and systems suppose to work together. Like for me having to run WMR via SteamVR to make DCS work. And there are multiple duplicate settings that basicly do the same thing just in a slightly diffrent way. I am hoping that manufactures of VR can all get behind a singel API and stick with it. Like I think I read that Oculus will move to openXR, so then we can hope that WMR will follow, and that this will also make it easier for developers.
  2. I have been having the same problem as described in there. My problem is that uninstalling FPSVR doesn't solve it completely. After running the sim for a little while it will start stuttering like it does when having FPSVR open, but not as bad, And I can see on my SteamVR status that I am getting purple lines (dropped frames) If I alt tab in and out a few times, The problem goes away and is super smooth for a while, until it starts again.... I have searched around for a solution to this on various forums and other websites, but I can't seem to find the correct solution. One thing that has been on my mind is my PSU, it's 750w from 2013, so it's getting old. Asus states they recommend a 850w for the 3080 Strix OC that I have, and considering I am running both a overclocked I9 10850k and a large liquid cooler. System is very stable in any other circumstances, so I am abit uncertain if this PSU issue is really the Issue. My gut tells me that it's really a software conflict somewhere that we can't seem to figure out. Thanks in advance with any advice.
  3. Hi, and thanks for all the replies. I forgot to mention that i have curvatures set, and after some debate with my self, i think i Will end up going for stick extension for what i already have... And You are right, i need more practice doing AAR. :)
  4. Hello Everyone! I am looking to change my HOTAS setup a little, currently I have the Warthog, with the softer green main spring from Sahaj, and sanded and regreased the gimble" which really helped this stick make it "what it should be". However. I feel it's still not where i'd like it to be "in the center" I still have a hard time with AAR, simply because the very small precise movements in the center isn't good enough I feel. Same with helicopters from time to time. After doing some research, I have pretty much narrowed it down to the following options. (I am also really considering either deskmounts, or making a mockup cockpit from wood) Option 1: Stick extension for the warthog. using the "orginal spring". This however concerns me a little, because from what i've seen around, the TM gimble and stick isn't as bullet proof as we were lead to belive. Biggest pro here is that it's cheap. Option 2. Replace TM gimble with Virpil WarBRD base, and continue to use on the desk, I am not sure how much "better" this will be to my already "tweaked" TM gimble? The con with this solution is that it's not recommended to use extensions on this base. Option 3. Get the more expensive Virpil base, Moongoose T-50CM base, and use either an extension, or buy softer springs and use it with a deskplate or mount? uncertain how this will be compared to by already tweaked TM gimble. Option 4. Any other suggestions people might have? Looking forward to hearing your opinions!
  5. I don't do multiplayer yet, but from what I have gathered the main bottleneck in DCS at the moment is the CPU, as it doesn't have good support for multi core usage yet, this will likely change in the future, with the introduction of the VULKAN API which as far as I understand is a godsend for sims, look at this comparison video. I notice an big performance increase when going from my stock CPU at 3.8ghz to 4.9ghz, so since you have a 6700k, is it overclocked, or running at the stock 4ghz?
  6. Having spent sometime experimenting with this, I feel like i can conclude with the following on the Rift S. This is running 1.6 PD, no AA at all, and other settings high in DCS and VR4DCS settings in Nvidia panel (except for the AA) Option 1: As High as settings as you can do with still maintaining 45fps (stats as 40 when opening the ctrl+pause in DCS) with ASW on, you will get the smoothest experience when moving your head around, and with the world moving around your "plane" as in looking to the side. There will however be "ghosting" on "objects moving around in the world at a fast pace" which as other fighters in dogfights, or if you try your F3 view, you see your jet being "ghosted" as it's flying by. Option 2, same as above, but without ASW on, that will remove the ghosting from the "moving objects", and apply it to your headmovements, and the world around you, meaning when you look to the side, it will stutter like mad. Option 3 is to lower the settings signficantly, and be able to run it smooth with no ASW on at all, I tested with ASW in Auto mode, and displayed it so I could see when it turned on and off. I had to go all the way down to 1.2 PD, and most textures on low, and vis range low to make ASW not kick in at all during a strandard "free flight mission on the hornet. Option 4 is basicly trying to lower settings a little and leave ASW in Auto, which means if you are dogfighting really high up or over the water, it will not be enabled, meaning no ghosting. Anyway, long post on this. TL;DR : A choice between two evils, ASW on, gives you ghosting on enemy planes and dogfighting, ASW off gives ghosting/Stutters moving your head around and "when the world moves around your plane". Hope this helps anyone.
  7. Hi there, I must admit I am a little in the same boat, Running Rift S aswell, and have optimized as much as I can with Thuds VR4DCS, and tuned my pc to as much as I can while keeping stable... My system is: I5 9600K clocked to 4.9ghz 32gigs of 3200mhz ram (diffrent timings, but MB has support of "odd ram") GTX 1080ti Asus Prime z370 P-II (iirc) and running windows and DCS on the same ssd...I could move dcs to another ssd, but that means moving a lot of stuff around...both ssds are around 500mb/s mark. here is a userbenchmark run of my pc : https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/23290661 My main concern for dcs is to be able to actually real the labels in the cockpit, and still have good performance, so i have been running 1.6 PD (in OTT), which imo makes it quite passable...but I have noticed when dogfighting, the "enemy" is usually ghosted really bad, looks like 4-5 planes stacked on top of eachother, I've concluded this is due to ASW, which makes everything super smooth, if i turn off ASW, the ghosting goes away...but then i get mad stutters when looking "too the side"....even on 1.0 PD. Compared to others in here with similar systems, I am a little baffled as either I am much more picky about performance then others...or I have some hidden jam in my system, as people state they can run 1.7-1.9 PD and it will be butter smooth.
  8. Thanks for the input everyone. My expectations are that it will run in such a way that I will not percive the wold to get "chopping" when i look out to the side. And that I will at least be able to make some sense of the instruments in VR Currently it runs very smooth if I run down the setttings all the way down low. I have experimented quite a bit, And Have gotten to a point where I feel I will not be able to get the visuals I want to be able to enjoy VR in DCS as I should. I also see someone saying used 1080ti's used for mining, which was also one of my concerns, but I found another seller who deals in used parts, and he has a pair of 1080tis which he claims is from a data center which was never put in use, and has documentation for it. The other good thing is that he is willing to sell all kinds of old computer parts i've been hoarding for years....so I will only have to pay 130 for the swap of the parts (including the 2060) for the 1080ti. I am hoping to get my hands on the 1080ti next weekend. I will issue my report when I do after some testing :) Once again thanks for all your input guys
  9. Hello Everyone. This will be my first post here, but I need a second opinion on a matter. I recently got into the world of VR, which is quite amazing if I must say so my self. Using the Rift s at the moment. In preperation for VR I pretty much bought a new pc summer this year. It is made up from a Intel I5 9600k, running on 4.7ghz with watercooling 16gigabyte of high performance ram (don't remember the brand of specs at the moment) 2 Samsung Evo850SSD, one being a regular and the other m.2 ASUS PRIME Z370-A II motherboard. ASUS DUAL-RTX2060-6G-EVO GPU I had orginally not planned on buying a new GPU, as I had a GTX980 from before. But I found a little extra money, So i invested in the 2060 card as a budget upgrade. How ever I find that I have been having problems getting DCS to run properly in VR, I have been trying most guide around to try and run it well. But unless I turn everything way down. It will simply not run smooth. I found a ad with someone having a 1080ti who want swap for a weaker card, this is the 11gb edition, So i would imagine it would be quite the upgrade compared to the 2060 that I have, even if the 2060 is 2 generations newer? He is asking roughly 250-300 dollars cash inbetween for the trade? What are your opinions on this? would it be worth it in the performance? I would probably need to upgrade my PSU aswell, as I am not sure if it would be powerfull enough to feed the 1080ti Let me know what you think. Thanks in Advance.
