  1. If any of you heli guys want an A-10 to assist, hit me up on the server chat. I love doing combined attacks on the ground targets and will be happy to send some AGM-65's at the defenses from a distance. I haven't yet learned the datalink capabilities, though I'm not sure that functionality is even supported in the choppers. I get in an hour or two most nights between 9:30-midnight, PST, so feel free to say hi. I'm a quiet one and don't often comment in chat or use the radio. Last night I was taking on my nemesis target, the Deep Assault Convoy. I'm sure some of those specops encursions are similarly protected, however I just seem to consistently die from the DAC so I keep coming back to it. Anyway, last night I just said screw it and flew high enough to avoid the AA fire and managed to have some success. Dangerous, I know. As I was heads down looking at the TGP trying to acquire the target for a GBU drop, boom...dead. Knowing I was a prime target for the Red fighters and fairly deep into the conflict zone, I knew right away what had happened. I didn't get mad, it's the risk I took by not staying low and masking myself, and a lack of situational awareness. Anyhow, as I took the opportunity to get a drink and relax while the plane re-armed back at base (after the respawn), I noticed the guy who shot me down in chat. He made a comment about "I love it when those A-10s try to be aggressive" and I couldn't help but laugh. If by "aggressive", he meant flying straight and level at 8000 ft on a bombing run with no evasive maneuvers, I am guilty as charged. PS: I'm not complaining and did not respond in chat. There was no need to rain on his parade and it was a fair kill since I was in the combat zone. I just thought some of you other slow movers and heli pilots might relate and get a chuckle about the "aggressive" comment. ;-) PPS: Shameless plug to donate to Mirknir's server fund!
  2. Sorry to the blue team Huey I shot down last night in the Mirage (didn't catch the screen name). I thought something was funny with how slow the radar contact was moving, but had some kind of brain freeze connecting it to being a heli. I felt like a jerk after I saw the kill notification and put 2 and 2 together. I promise to be more conscious of the slow movers out there and not kill them with great prejudice every time IFF comes back negative.
  3. Just wanted to say that I really enjoy this server. Ignore my post count and lack of profile, I've had DCS since the LOMAC days and have recently dove back in after a long hiatus (Witcher 3 and real life got in the way). With the F-5E and F/A-18 on the horizon, I've gotten back into things with the L-39 and Mirage and have been having a great time online. This is my go to server for the last few weeks and it's been really nice to see the number of people grow, the variety of players and roles, and the little surprises that pop up occasionally (those SAM's are my biggest enemy). I've avoided TS for the moment since I play in a shared room with headphones and need to be quiet, but listening in occasionally has also been really cool to watch/hear the team work. I tend to be a lone wolf player, but am happy to fly with anyone who is around. I'm almost always on the red team using the Greek M2K. Say hi if you see me online (same screenname)!
  4. Is brake fade modeled? I couldn't tell if it was just a placebo effect, but practicing some landings last night I noticed that they seemed to have lost some of their braking power after bringing the aircraft down from landing speeds, but they seemed more powerful after taxiing a bit. This would be in line with the brakes heating and fading during heavy braking on the runway, but then gaining their power back as they cool. Maybe it's all in my head.
