  1. Hi guys, I'm getting my first VR glasses tomorrow. I've been reading along here for a while and am wondering if I can even install Quest 2 with the current problems DCS has with this headset.

I'm using DCS as a standalone version (no Steam).
    What do you guys think?
Is it not working at all at the moment?
Does link cable or wifi make a difference?

Is it currently possible for me to get the older Oculus software version on an initial install?

Would be great if you guys could help.

With every patch I'm losing hope. Why was the rotor animation turned off? Is it ever coming back? 😞

The bug has been reported. But as you have already noticed, it takes quite a long time. I don't understand that either. After all, this feature has been working since the first day Apache was released.
But you can't give up hope.

    @Wags..any news on this one?

  3. The tail rotor does not casts shadow anymore.

If the engine stands still there is tail rotor shadow but if it has minimal speed, the disappears completely.

That was no prob earlier. There where shadows all the time.

Have attached some screens frome the actual version and some older ones.

When a mission has no clouds or preset selected, there are high altitude clouds showing on and off.  Whenever I switch from external to cockpit view, the high altitude clouds paterns change and sometimes they go away leaving a perfectly clear sky.

Is there a way to stop this random ''high clouds on/off'' behaviour?  Is it possible to have a clear sky throughout the mission?

I feel with you. Unfortunately, nobody at ED seems to be interested in this.
There have been no improvements or fixes to clouds and weather for ages.

DCS: Mi-24P Hind by Eagle Dynamics

    • Added: New pilots models inside and outside of cockpit, new pilots animations

Many thanks for these fixes / improvements and the pilot boddies for the Hind. 👍

Hopefully you could implement the same for the Apache soon. Would be really great.

    Thanks and best regards

This should not be a DEV decision, this is a design decision. Someone has decided that the own head is hidden in the F1 view. In all aircraft.
And in Apache it is already like that, except for a few specific viewing angles. the head "flickers" on and off.

Imagine you were in a dogfight in one of the jets and looking over your shoulder and your own helmet would constantly pop into view.

In my opinion, this is not a "wish list" item but a bug (inconsistent).

Someone from the design team should please take another look at this. That would be fatal if it happened the same way in the F-16 and F-18 when they get their first person bodies.

I really love the pilots bodies but this kills the immersion.

And now Hornet is plagued with same "feature". Complete immersion breaker in VR. I bet for flat as well. Please remove it or make it optional.

I was afraid of this 😞

And as already mentioned: it also disturbs in non-VR

    Hi Zealu,

it is known, we do not force head boundaries in VR, I will ask the team however about this issue, maybe remove the head on the F1 view.

    thank you

... and to clarify again: i don't refer especially to VR. It's way more important for TrackIR or other head trackers. We do not need boundaries in our 6DOF view, we need to "loose" 😉 our head in the F1 view like in all your other modules too.

    Thank you

👍...that would be so great if this would happen (and not only in VR). No one needs the own head in the F1 view, like in all other DCS modules. (or at least optional)

  9. Problem still exists. I can reproduce it quite easily.
When you go to the exterior view, the rotor head is animated flawlessly.

In the pilots cockpit view (F1), select on one of the MFDs under VID to TADS.
Switch to the exterior view (F2) and you see the rotor head flickers and disappears temporarily.
If you switch VID to NoVid, in the cockpit, the error in the outside view disappears immediately and permanently until you activate VID again.

I also see the error in various online streams.

Additional info: MT ONLY ...no problem with ST version.

When I get the cursor at the edge, I "double press" the TDC in the direction I want it to go, and it swaps MPD's instantly.

Thats the way it works. I thought that was clear.

You need a deadzone for the used stick and you have to wait not too long on the edge for the second input to change the display.

But you MUST wait a millisecond at the edge. It will not switch to the other screen in one  fluidly movement trough the edge.

If your pause is more than perhabs half a second or you start the movement on the edge, you must "double move" the stick within short period of time to switch to the other display.

    Hey @Apache 64

I understand the issue and I also saw the video that confirms what you are seeing.

However, I tried several instances to reproduce the issue and couldn't.

    I have two requests:
    - Your Options
    - A track with the situation happening.

If you can supply these, it would help.

@Lord Vader...sorry for the late reply. Had to build a new rig because my old rig died 😞
Unfortunately I can not provide a track, but as soon as I see the bug again I will make sure to save a track.

  12. The rotor disk or rotor cone no longer corresponds to cyclic or collective movements.

It is always flat and horizontal. No inclination forward or to the side.
No more cone with more collectiv.
    Nothing.
The only movement you can see is the rotation and the blade pitch angle.

No track attached: should be easy to reproduce.

No idea from which version this occurred for the first time. Seen in the current Open Beta DCS 2.8.5.40170
