  1. D-OH !!! thx for the heads-up. that does the trick. as you can tell.... i am a super new noob. been on MS trying to set-up various training missions to work with and get my skills up. focused on the F-15C so i can be as ready to transition to the strike eagle debuts. since you're an ME guy.... i've got another issue that has arisen, on a caucasus mission... i set up an A-10 II to run a few valleys. i get to a place when it just does a aerial circle around and around. stable altitude. been surprised that the A-10 was having issues with not enough power to climb over ridges anyway... so i switched it out with an AV-8B. ran the mission and the harrier does the same circling thing in another caucasus valley... but in a different place. in the A-10 instance, the plane is getting ready to ascend through ridge gap. the AV-8B has just come over a ridge and is preparing to descend. just a glitch? any ideas? thx again.
  2. this may be a flaming cliffs issue, but when i set up a new SAM site from scratch... when i zoom ALL THE WAY in to 10 foot scale, the symbol is all that is visible. i've seen on tutorials when the person zooms in.... the actual top view of the piece of equipment is seen. this is helpful in seeing directional issues and simpler spacing (with scale). as i said, i'm using flaming cliffs 3 because i have decided to start out learning the basics with the F-15C (in preparation for the F-15E). could this be the reason?.... of is there some setting i am missing? thx, ww
  3. new user here. am in the process of setting-up my virpil: CM3... alpha on warbrd... control panels #1 and #2. have double-confirmed VPC software is running fine, but i come back the next day to pick-up where i left off and (sporadically) find various DCS control panel-side buttons have now DISAPPEARED!!! (W. T. H. ???) seems to be more with the control panels, but not exclusively. (sometimes it's axis controls as well). is there some setting i am missing? or a proper way to ensure the buttons are saved and stable? i've had to go over (with the paper mapping templates i've used to track my progress) now NINE times... to try and determine any rhyme or reason for this... and to see if there's any pattern. nothing. having to go over my templates to count my buttons.... and then determine the ones that disappeared is (finally) affecting my blood pressure. please help. ANYONE have some solid input or ideas? thx SO much, ww
  4. hi there, this is probably a stupid question (either as an absurd impossibility or as something already DONE and i don't understand i've already seen it in various mapping profiles)... but as i am mapping my virpil ALPHA... a thought came across my mind. Q: can a 5-way hat.... be programmed/used as a "MASTER control systems" button of sorts? say, for instance... weapons systems. install a specific weapon system on EACH of the (4) "arrow" buttons... with the ability to "scroll" through various modes/settings of THAT specific system (by pressing on the same "arrow" button multiple times)..... and then SELECTING the desired weapons system by pressing the center button on the 5-way. this way..... 4 systems can be controlled with (1) 5-way hat. any ideas?.... or am i nuts? please, be gentle, "wotrwokr"
  5. hi all. SERIOUSLY new "noob" here. just getting my feet wet with all that DCS takes to to run well. yikes. just got the courage to pull the trigger on a 'throroughbred' (for me) PC for flight sims and davinci resolve video editing. was really confused about the best way to install all the programs and get the best bang for EVERY buck i'm spending. your interactions were not only very insightful and a help.... but shines a comoforting light into the kinds of.... just good people that are around here. when i finally get my new rig... AND my virpil controls (from belarus)... (and figure HOW to get them mapped)... AND get my (pre-ordered) head-tracking... AND a radio/discord set-up worked out... AND all the software installed.......... and eventually LEARN how to keep an F-15C from crashing........ i hope to tip a wing to you all in the DCS skies. please DO carry on with your days, wotrwokr/"badger"
  6. hello all.... DCS noob here. got the flight sim bug and ordered a virpil throttle and flight stick on "black friday sale". then proceeded to download 'DCS world' and came to find my present PC was.... W-O-E-F-U-L-L-Y inadequate. proceeded to order a 'thoroughbred' (for me) gaming pc with AMD X570 CPU/ RTX 3080 GPU... and JUST found out that only (1) of my 2TB WD SN850 NMVe SSDs will work at Gen4 speed... while the second WD SN850 will only runs at Gen3 speed. WTH ??? as it pertains to: where to install the DCS program... how to configure SSDs and HDDs... partitioning of drives... etc... - what is the ideal way to set-up DCS on a pc gaming computer? - what is the best way for me to set-up DCS on my rig? sincere thx to you ALL in advance. looking forward to flying next to you all in the skies. regards, wotrwokr (i guess that's TWO questions.... sorry)
