You're going to get this reaction til the problem is fixed, Just telling us to stop whining isn't gonna work. As it stands, It would appear ED Leadership didn't see an issue with what happened with the F-5 Competition if thats the response we're going with.

Like others said, Im not holding my breath on it if we're getting another F-5E Remaster, a pretty plane that is nigh impossible to skin because someone decided to punish the community instead of accepting reality of the situation.

I suppose we have our answer Gents null

@NineLine do we have any updates on getting MV access or at least a solution to this issue?
-
exactly this. I think my PC might actually catch fire if I tried my MV workflow with the full game running I didn't even know Roblox was still a thing... let alone the game engine being capable of handling a model from DCS.
-
And as others have already noted: What you've implemented already isn't secure. Anyone or company dedicated enough is going to break your Encryption and get your models. All ED has managed with this change is to punish the community creators who weren't the problem in the first place. So in short: You still will have this problem, while Also alienating your fanbase. Which seems to me to be a lose-lose proposition. But like I said before, All the answers we've gotten in this thread scream that ED isn't willing to budge on the issue and perhaps this has just been a Sisyphean effort.
-
Explain then what we are talking about then? Cause I thought we were here talking about the fact ED isn't letting us use the tool expressly made for this stuff, and then when we complain we're told to use a method that doesn't really work for what we are being asked to do. But maybe I walked into the My Little Pony thread and missed it... Applejack is clearly best pony in that case.

OK i'll break it down. Programmers use Integrated Development Environments, thats your IntelliJ, Eclipse, Visual Studio, etc. With these IDE's, we can (Generally) compile code, catch syntax errors, and do half a dozen other basic functions fairly easily. This is analogous to Model Viewer, where we can reload skin changes on the fly, get master luas and UV Unwraps, and have near total control of viewing the model. What you have presented to us as a "Solution", is instead of using the IDE Tool that does everything we really need to do our Programming (Or in this case artistry) job, is to use Notepad. is it theoretically Possible to write a game on the scale of DCS in Notepad and then use a compiler? Absolutely. Would your programmers probably throw a conniption fit of biblical proportions if you told them to do that? Yeah. I'd bet my entire years salary on that one. If that doesn't make sense I'll be happy to rephrase it.

Maybe Nineline can pass this example on to the higher ups. Can you write all of the game's code without the support of an IDE? Sure, theres compilers that you can feed text files into and spit out executable machine-code. Does writing code with an IDE make your life way easier? Also yes. Thats model-viewer for us. It doesn't make us good skinners, but it certainly helps us actually do our ""jobs"". Look Mom, I'm a Pro! This is what I told you when I dropped out of 11th Grade English! I honestly don't care about the F-5E in this particular instance, I care about what this whole Encryption and ED's reaction to our ire has been. We have a tool, a good tool, but We're no longer allowed to use said tool for reasons that, as others have noted, removing use of the tool will do 0 to actually stop. I'd love to work on the upcoming F-15C, F-35, Maybe the MiG if i'm feeling frisky enough, but the way things stand, It won't be worth the headache.

absolutely this

Well seems clear to me ED doesn't want to handle this in any amount of good faith, Not sure what I expected. We have done all that you've asked in this thread and others, you ignored us. That's why we're here now.
-
Then you guys shouldn't be doing a competition at all until this is resolved. Simple as that. Right now, it looks like ED Wants us to do the leg work, then we should be at least given a modicum of support on our end to actually be able to do it.

Absolutely in the same boat. Its been real but the lack of help we've been getting from ED (And I'm being extremely generous with that phrasing) has more or less pushed me out of this hobby entirely. Been real but I think this is where im done.

Im pretty sure most of the work we see that isn't through HB's Rivet Counters or a handful of other third parties community skinners are all done through SP. I know the F-15E "Just use Substance Painter" was the handwaved excuse for the issues we had with skinning that model. " Do they really expect us to magically scooby doo the camouflages or airshow team liveries without any instruction or support?" I believe the answer to that question is 'yes' given the recent change in how ED is handling the community skinners. Between this and the Heavy Metal update's locking down of assets (And credit to dudes like Scorch who have the patience of saints when it comes to sussing out that Lua file), I am personally not holding my breath on future ED content being community modifiable. You will take your Clark Air Base SEA skin and you will like it.

Except instead of punishing those at fault, you're punishing those of us who do work. I get obviously you personally are just the messenger, and understand these aren't aimed at you, but maybe convey to the powers at be what they're doing does have a negative impact on the mod community that, according to Wag's last video, you value greatly. We're getting two different messages here.
