  1. Three things that really helped me to at least land consistently (might help newbies): 1) Make sure to trim the aircraft after landing gears and flaps. Fighting the plane makes it much more harder to land. 2) Aim the velocity vector and don't move the stick to manage angle of attack only move it so that velocity vector is on target. 2) Focus on E-bracket and think about it as a throttle indicator: the more forward your velocity vector compared to the middle of E-bracket - the more throttle needs to be added and vice versa. The distance from the middle of the bracket to velocity vector is proportional to throttle movement. This mental model really helped to focus on precise throttle movements and land consistently (albeit imperfectly).
  2. Thanks everyone for your reponses
  3. Hi all, I have started flying DCS F/A-18 recently, I know the aircraft relatively well, went through default campaign with some like, but I realized I suck with AA. Example: in the first mission of the Task Force Challenger you need to shoot down two Migs at ~Angels 5 together with a wingman I can't shot them down consistently. What happens: I shoot a sparrow, it misses, while I'm closing and tracking them they shoot back with IR and I'm dead. I've seen GW video, I understand trying to bleed the energy from missiles etc. But I need something even more basic. Something like an overall strategy-blueprint for AA intercept: What altitude do i fly? What I need to do? What are the steps? Launch far to make them go defensive? and follow up with IR? What distance should I launch I feel like I'm getting into combat without a plan and it doesnt work out..... hope it makes sense...
  4. I finally beat it, though mostly accidentally, as I happen to attack the target when Migs happen to be far away.
  5. Anyone was able to beat the mission? I'm getting attacked by Migs 10mi from target, I don't see who i should be able to beat the mission, except accidentally..
  6. I don't get how to evade manpads in mission 2. If the missile is launched, no matter what I do (pull turns + drop flares) it ALWAYS HITS. Literally not a single time it missed. What am I doing wrong?
  7. I'm playing training JSA mission, stage 3, where I need to find a parked plane with FLIR and bomb it with JSA. 1) I can operate FLIR fine - I have identified a target and locked it 2) JSA is not a laser guided munition so it need the coordinates, right? 3) How do I update the JSA mission data (coordinates) with the coordinates from FLIR? (JSA is currently targeting waypoint not the actual target which is somewhat away from the waypoint)
