  1. With all the excitement from the WWII Pacific Group I'm a part of (vCTF-58), One map comes to mind that would be incredible as a WWII map in the Pacific. The Solomon Islands The Solomon Islands campaign, specifically the Guadalcanal campaign, was a six-month-long, brutal series of battles in the Pacific Theater of World War II. The initial landings on Guadalcanal and Tulagi in August 1942 by US forces were aimed at securing an airfield, but it quickly became a fierce, prolonged struggle for control of the islands and the surrounding seas. This would be a perfect playground for the Corsair, Hellcat (and not to hope for too much other) and other related assets that could expand upon the playability of the Pacific in DCS. Key aspects of the Solomon Islands Campaign: Initial Landings and Objectives: The US Marines landed on Guadalcanal, Tulagi, and the Florida Islands in August 1942, aiming to secure the airfield at Guadalcanal and disrupt Japanese supply lines. Prolonged Struggle: The campaign was characterized by intense naval and aerial battles, as well as fierce ground fighting, for control of the islands. Naval Battles: The campaign involved numerous naval battles, including the Battle of Savo Island, the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, and the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. Importance of Henderson Field: The US airfield on Guadalcanal, later named Henderson Field, became a crucial strategic asset, and its control was a major objective for both sides. Lessons Learned: The campaign provided valuable lessons for the US military in terms of amphibious operations, logistics, and the importance of air power. Beyond Guadalcanal: The Solomon Islands campaign also included operations in the Central and Northern Solomons, including the Bougainville campaign. Japanese Defeat: The Japanese, despite their initial successes, were eventually forced to withdraw from Guadalcanal and the other islands in the Solomon Islands. The Solomon Islands campaign was a crucial turning point in the Pacific War, demonstrating the US military's growing strength and its ability to overcome significant challenges. Not to mention the number of land based marine corps squadrons that could open the door to campaign missions that highlight operations in the Solomons. Thoughts?

  4. We are located in different timezones so we have UTC +1, +2, -5, -8. A good time would be 1700 UTC on Friday. Usually evenings for U.S. W & F.
  5. Larger Campaigns are still in development. Upon release of the official modules is when we will start hosting these types of Campaigns. Until then, most of us fly Wednesday's and Friday's, doing small missions and training with what we have. If you'd like to know more or follow the progress we've been making, feel free to drop by our discord!
  6. Our Server Outside of our big campaigns, you’ll always have access to: - Regular CAP operations and practice areas - Mini-campaigns and smaller events - Dedicated time for community training and mentoring Our Server Offers: - Structured training for easy onboarding and skill development - Solo missions and group mini-campaigns for continuous engagement - Large-scale campaigns like Operation Forager, simulating the Battle for the Marianas. (to come post release of the WW2 Marianas Map) - Immersive features, including a limited F10 maps, custom navigation tools, and dynamic battlefield elements While we await official modules, we use the P-47 Thunderbolt as a stand-in for the Corsair and incorporate a few carefully chosen mods to fill in the missing pieces of the WWII Pacific puzzle. Why Task Force 58? Task Force 58 participated in major battles like Operation Forager and the Philippine Sea, giving us a wide range of mission possibilities. While vVMF-214 remains our core Marine squadron, we are also introducing the VF-10 "Grim Reapers", a Navy squadron from the USS Enterprise in 1944-45. This setup allows for joint operations while maintaining historical inspiration. As we grow, we plan to support additional squadrons under the CTF-58 umbrella. Training & Campaign Structure When the full Pacific 1944 modules release, we’ll introduce a comprehensive training pipeline, including: - Basic Flight Training - Advanced Combat Training - Carrier Operations Training These will be required to participate in multi-phase recreations of Operation Forager and other major Pacific campaigns. We’re building a foundation now so that when those modules drop, we’re ready for full-scale immersion. Join Us If you're passionate about aviation history, enjoy squadron-based operations, or just want to fly with a tight-knit community in a rich, authentic WWII setting—come fly with vCTF-58. 7. Welcome to the Virtual Carrier Task Force 58! What We’re About What began as vVMF-214 "Black Sheep Squadron" two years ago has evolved into a full-fledged virtual joint force that strive to recreate WWII Pacific Theater operations in DCS. With incredible additions on their way like the F4U Corsair, F6F Hellcat, Marianas 1944 map, and other Pacific assets, we're building something special—a historically-inspired, immersive WWII experience grounded in the legendary operations of Task Force 58. We are a dedicated community of enthusiasts bringing the Pacific War to life, one sortie at a time. Using publicly available research, and an in-depth knowledge of Naval and Marine Corps history during World War II, we look forward to recreating these events with like-minded individuals in DCS.
